I am curious what you folks think about his actions on the field and if he should have been kept in (regardless of the key play).

He really should have been ejected for the punch on the field. The rest should put him in the dog house for a while. I can only figure that Saban did not know about all of it at that time.

Didn't like it, but I will say that sometimes after the HC has just crawled that ass, it is best to just leave a player be. He can't get any lower than what he is already feeling. Stevenson should have let him walk. Ugly look though to go after anyone on the sideline. player or coach.

Frustration was all over the face of Bama's players. Even with Tua giving hope the guys hadn't got their second wind yet. Mack Wilson almost got called for the same nonsense.

That is my thought as well, that Saban did not see the lunge at Stevenson. Not that it matters too much now anyway, but that video is nasty.

My guess is that he was more ticked off at himself/the situation. At that point, all the UGA player would have to do is look at him funny to elicit a punch!

Saban said today he didnt know about the incident. Im going to guess that the staff didn't find it necessary to tell him during the heat of the moment (probably because they didnt want Saban to commit murder on the sideline in front of millions of people). He def. should have been ejected for the punch, though. For some reason people are trying to equate Mack Wilson's shove of Fromm's head to the punch which is just dumb, though. That whole game was chippy with both sides getting chippy with each other.

Speaking of uncalled flags, on Tua's fourth down throw Najee Harris was literally tackled during the play and I seriously think that's actually where Tua was throwing and Ridley just happen to break off his route and be behind Najee.

Flags stayed that should have been thrown both ways. UGA fans keep complaining about the punt block call back but the reality is that it was either offsides or false start and the block would have never stood either way.

In the heat of the moment, you sometimes say or do things you normally would not do. It was a big game with lots of raw emotions being played out on both sides. Probably the best thing was being pulled from the game and let him calm down some. The whole episode looked worse than it probably was. I have no room for yelling at a staff member though. If I had been coaching, he would have played his last down of the game but that's why I am not coaching, still old school.

First drive they flinched at Q. Williams, forced the false start, which took 3 pts off the board. Thought there were a couple other missed calls.

BTW that would have changed momentum in a huge way.

Second half there was the ghost offside call/non false state... Then there was the sweet flag pickup with no explanation.

Ultimately I think the officiating was bad in both halves but glad we got the benefit in the second half. RTR

So did Fowler. That was really weird to me. He harped on that for several minutes as if somehow that would have kept the block in play. Either its a 5-yard offside or its a deadball false start and we do it over. Makes no sense to make a stink about that one.

I just thought that SEC officiating was bad. That crew last night just sucked.

No doubt on throw. Even the almighty Tua could not have anticipated Ridley would be open.

I typically defer to the coach on those decisions as he's just a bit more informed on the whats/whys/hows than we are. We don't know what his attitude was after he calmed down. It might have be an "in the moment" thing... not saying it was excusable, just we don't really know the details to be able to decide. In the past, I think Saban has done a pretty good job of making the correct decisions... just saying.

On a philosophical note, I think that society (in this case football viewers) are overly sensitive to a perceived discretion. If the camera catches it, everybody will gasp and think that something must be done, Kind of the social justice mentality. The reality is that football games are emotional and violent... every play. Pushing and shoving is going on almost every play. If fans were to hear what is said on the field, most would be appalled. Cursing, spitting, punching, pinching, grabbing is going every play. Most of that stuff is never seen or heard.

I've seen Bo Scarborough throw an elbow or push in person and on TV in every game. It's just part of the game.

They usually say nasty things about your sister or momma to try to get you to spill adrenaline. Coaches prepare you for that but sometimes you loose it. Just part of the game. Your discipline makes the difference.

Yes, and even if they pulled him from playing and sat him on the bench... he was only running down the field on special teams.. yes he made a great tackle afterwords, but who's to say there isn't anyone else that can step right in that role and perform likewise? It's not like he was our starting middle linebacker...

Emotions run EXTREMELY high in football. It's having the ability to control them that makes one successful. Like I said before, Saban had already gnawed on that ass and he likely already felt bad enough. So now he is really pissed! The UGA player either had bested him on the kick, or cursed at him to set him off resulting in his reaction and penalty. Now this is where Stevenson may have over stepped his bounds by piling on to the ass chewing Brown had already received. As an old coach, when I was HC I handled ass chewings and I expected the assistant to be there to pick them up. I held that same role as a football coach. If a player had gotten reamed out, I always went to "pick him up" and get that play and beratement past him so he could execute when his number was called the next time. To me, you have to know your role!! We once had an OLB that kept screwing up his drop and the other team kept throwing and completing a pass in his zone. If he had been using proper technique, he would've intercepted every throw! Wel, the HC would yell at his position coach to get his ass out. Position coach would pull him and chew his ass out and then throw him back out there 2-3 plays later. He never corrected, only cussed. After 2-3 series of this happening, I went over to him and made the correction he needed to hear. (I coached QBs and WRs at the time) I told him to do the W drill and flip his hips in his drop. Position coached put him back out there and the very next play, the QB went right back to that same pass and the kid picked it and took it back for 6! The kid was excited and came running to the bench. His position coach ran out to greet him and he ran right by him and jumped into my arms!!! Pissed his position coach off! Point is, Saban is the ass chewer and there has to be some that pick them up. Now Saban is the ultimate pick up as well. I think Stevenson went over board and pushed the wrong button.
