🏀 MBB: BARLCLAYS CLASSIC: BAMA vs Minnesota 4 PM CT

We played the last 7 plus minutes of the game 3 on 5 and outscored MN. What a great effort by Sexton, Norris and Smith.

That was the most ridiculous, impossible game in the history of basketball. No one has ever seen anything like it. I know I never had. They throw out the entire Bama bench with 14 minutes to go for merely walking on the court during a tussle a Minnesota player started. 2 minutes later Ingram fouls out, then a few minutes later Petty rolls his ankle and we are playing 3 vs 5. Bama then outscores Minnesota down the stretch and got it within one possesion with 2 minutes left. Sexton was gassed and the crowd was just roaring and going bananas for Bama. What a crazy, gutsy dude Collin Sexton is with 40 points in the game.

The absolute greatest non-win in Alabama basketball history. Never, never, seen anything like it folks.

Petty shot a three pointer and came down on the defender's foot. Went to the locker room in pain. The fight began a couple of plays earlier when the Minnesota player shot a three kind of showboating when a player got juked. Sexton was jawing. Then, there was another play where a Bama player got locked up with a Gopher. Petty ran at another player. There was shoving. Bama's players, for the most part, were about two or three feet onto the floor. All gone at that point. Petino got teed up in the process, and Sexton converted three of four.

On a serious note; what happened to Petty? Also, what started the fight? On a lighter note, how in the world did they even get the ball in bounds when they got down to 3 players?
Also, Minn ran the trap a bit but didn't really pressure the ball in. I don't think they knew what to do, honestly. Petino even said after the game they were at a bit of a loss since they hadn't ever tried to play 5 on 3. I don't think they pressed the issue. They were shooting all alone jumpers with a triangle zone in the lane. Just really odd.

Early on it looked like Bama might lose by lots more than 20. The whole situation might have actually turned out really well considering. That is if Petty's injury isn't too bad.

@planomateo That whole "tournament" reeks of amateurism. I hope the Tide never goes back. The location of the first game when a scheduling conflict happened at the arena. Really? The failed broadcast of the game Friday afternoon. The referees' actions throughout could have prevented anything like this happening. Bama got physical when they saw the way the game was being officiated. Minnesota didn't like it. Things got chippy. This Bama team is simply not going to take this stuff lying down anymore. They may not win it all this season. They may. I'm loving watching them though. They scrap.

I really hope Petty is okay.

It gets nauseating watching someone continue to dig themselves into a deeper hole while attempting to justify theirself over and over again to no avail.

Jesus Christ, there are some of you that just flat out cannot take it if someone doesn't walk lock, step and barrel with everything you say. Fuck, I didn't think UTA was a great win, would you please remove your panties from out of a bunch and get over it?

I wonder how that RPI is calculated exactly, other than it's complicated. Vermont (perched at number 2) lost to UK by four and blew out Boston, Concordia, and the mighty Purple Knights of St. Michaels who are 0-5.

It should be noted that the Concordia Stingers have defeated Alghoma, Nioissing, Laurier, Gueloh, Bishops, and Luval.

I'm sort of with @Birdman37 in that my enthusiasm goes even higher if the Tide can win today. I still have hopes of a great season, but today is a true top-25 matchup. That UT Arlington win was big though.

Anybody watch Texas last night? They're on the schedule later and took the Dookies to OT. That Longhorn Bamba, or Bambi, or la bamba, whoever he is, is TALL and plays even taller.

Dude, don't ever agree with me. There are certain people on this site that will automatically look at you as an asshole and an idiot for ever agreeing with me.

You can't play this card. You've knocked the win over UT Arlington while I've been pointing to their RPI standings all along. That's a QUALITY win.

No. 1, I didn't see you make a single post about RPI (or at least I didnt catch it). No. 2, pointing to RPI 3 games into the season is about as pointless as pointing to football rankings in week 2.

UTA's schedule up until Bama: Louisiana-Monroe (which has STILL only won one game), BYU... that's it... boy, that RPI really tells ya something, huh? Oh yeah, by the way, their schedule SINCE Bama: Texas-Dallas, Western Carolina and Niagra. Whoa, rough schedule.

And by the way, I didn't "knock" the win. I will never KNOCK a win. I simply dont look at a win over a NIT Sun-Belt team has being a big, quality win. You truly blew this shit way outta proportion.

And Bama lost tonight... kinda why I said I had tempered optimism thus far. I honestly think this team could be pretty special, but its going to take a lot of work and they def. hadn't faced the type of competition up until now that we could gauge just how good they are or can be. I still need to see this game but just seeing that they hung in there and the fact that Sexton went off makes me proud. I think this season will be a great one and whether or not I thought a stupid UTA win in November meant anything, has no effect on that.

So, please I'm asking all of you for the love of God, hop off of my jock about that stupid UTA game and move on. There's like 20+ games to go.

Blame Jay-Z for dat ish.

I was watching this from my laptop and wondered why the Minnesota players were laughing. :rolf:

Foul shots are all about ritual.

Same dribble count, same spin in the hands before release. Same ritual between shots, invisible teammates or not. Anything...ANYTHING that disrupts the rhythm of the ritual can throw off concentration.

Take this from a 4/5 player that had the best FT% on his team. Better than even his guards. I got called upon for technical shots. Hell, I'd be sitting for a breather and would get subbed in just to shoot techs, then check right back out for the rest of my blow.

All that said, it doesn't make this any less funny with Sexton...lol
