🏈 Marvin Shinn Transferring, Danny Woodson suspended

"Both players redshirted the 2011 season and played as reserves in 2012.

Shinn, a former Vigor product, saw the field in all 14 games this past season, catching six passes for 42 yards. He saw significant playing time in the SEC Championship, as he filled the void left by Kenny Bell, who was out for the season with a broken leg.

Woodson Jr., who played at LeFlore, caught one pass for 9 yards in 2012. He saw the field in six games."

I don't really understand why Shinn would not practice, if he is transferring. Wouldn't you want to stay in shape?

I think the influx of receivers must have a lot to do with it for Shinn. He got some nice playing time the last couple of games of the year and looked to be in line for some quality p.t. next season. I suspect he's probably thinking that there will be more "Amari Coopers" breaking into the rotation, which will significantly cut down on his potential playing time.

Kinda seems like he's weighing his options and thinking that going to a smaller fish tank might be best. Just speculating.

Better not let "____" see that comment.....j/k. Hopefully he has some success unless he plays against Bama

As long as he goes to UNA it'll be okay.

Shinn showed some promise, but it's true the talent coming in is significant. Although the article mentioned him filling in for Bell, we also had to lose DeAndrew White during the season for his playing time to increase. Add that to who is coming in and the emergence of Cooper, and it's clear he is down the line.

Just to chime in on Shinn opting not to practice. I believe it does allow him to get a jump start on exploring other options. At least he isn't going thru the Spring knowing he won't return and possibly take reps from others. I wish him well where ever he lands. As for Woodson, his suspension brings back some memories of his dad. I was on the team with Danny and while he was talented, he had some issues. Looks like Jr. is following in dads footsteps in more ways than one.

Looking like it will be Texas Tech.

As I recall, CNS has an off season evaluation talk with each returning player regarding where they stand in the pecking order. Shinn got on the field because of injuries to Kenny Bell, DeAndrew White, and in the pre-season, Chris Black. With no WR graduating or leaving early he likely was told that he would be behind the three above, plus Cooper, Norwood, etc. That, and a couple of promising WR coming in let him know he would not be real high on the list, again. He played very well for us late in the season. I am sorry to see him leave, and I wish him well whereever he lands.

Does anyone think he might transfer to a lower classification to avoid sitting out another year?
