šŸˆ Marty and McGee on Mac Jones: "Who saw this coming?" Can I ask that question here? Who saw the season Mac is having?

I knew he would be good. He showed some real moxy to me the way he battled with AU. And considering the guys that returned this season, I knew he would give AJ's single season records a real run.

However, I didn't come close to thinking he'd have a Joe Burrow type season with only 10 regular season SEC games to play.

I thought Mac would be just fine. I knew he was a big recruit for us, but I have to admit I did not think it would hit these levels of proficiency. I figured his teammates would have to work a little harder to have the success, maybe like a better version of Coker and just below McCarron and his mastery of the offense, but he has taken it to another level. Hard to say he has Tua abilities, but he has shown he wasn't going to let the ship sink on his watch.

I for one was wrong about mac....
The ints vs AU....showed ....to me... he wasnt ready for big time...
What an idiot i was....he is definitely as cool in pocket as Burrow... as accurate...
As in control...

nowone thing we haven’t seen...this year....when the chips are down...can he deliver...like Joe did last year

I'll have to admit I said in the spring he'll play his way into the third qb drafted. @Tidestalker did we have a conversation about this?
I thought he would be good, better than most of our previous qb's, but I NEVER thought he'd be otherworldly good like he's been so far.

Honestly, I'd take Mac over those other 2 guys any day. I still think Fields is a flash in the pan, he'll be another Dwayne Haskins type, overhyped and unheard of in a few years. I think Sunshine will have more success, but I don't think he's the greatest qb to ever suit up like most of the media is making him out to be. Trevor's biggest advantage is his ability to escape and run and make things happen. If he has to stand back in the pocket with any pressure, he's mediocre at best.

I was wrong about him. I thought he'd be good enough to get the job done because I saw Greg McElroy, with all due respect, win a chip. MacJ is at least as talented (understatement) with an unarguably more talented cast than GMac had, including the OC. I figured he'd be good for a big performance or two but I had absolutely no thoughts of him being a Heisman contender or anywhere close to Tua's production whatsoever. Pleasantly surprised and crow never tasted so good.

I'd argue that he's done extremely well when the chips are down. Look at the UGA game, the Ole Miss game, even. He was drawn on to consistently perform, even coming from behind, and he exceeded all expectations.

I don't think I've EVER seen a more accurate deep ball. He always places it perfectly for the receiver to catch it in stride, lead him where he needs him to go. Most of Tua's downfield throws had to be adjusted to by the receiver

final minute game.....chips down...win or lose......

truth is...this team has been so explosive...by 4th Quarter...he is on sideline laughing...

burrow did it last vs bama .......game on line ...cool and collected...drove em to winning TD..

Trask did it vs lsu....but missed fg....but got em there

hope we dont have toExperience it....
Just saying

GMac was the game manager type of QB that fit our scheme at the time. I don’t think he could have pulled this off. FWIW brother, I expected him to have a good year but I thought @TerryP statement about him playing himself into the top 3 of the draft to be a wish. Funny, can’t remember what I ate yesterday but I remembered that.

I said in the beginning that Mac would start, but that Bryce would replace him should he struggle and Mac might not see the field again should this happen. Mac never had that GMac stretch where he seemed to lose his ability to throw an accurate pass. I never saw Mac being a Heisman finalist and quite possibly the winner.

Bryce will be more than fine. He has made some good throws when he has been given the opportunity especially in some of the early games. Later games have been more of a struggle for him but lets face it this is an unusual year to say the least.
