🏈 Mal Moore stepping down

Despite his popularity among the Crimson Tide fanbase, Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome is not expected to leave his position to replace Mal Moore as University of Alabama Athletics Director, according to a report from The Baltimore Sun. Newsome, a former All-American tight end for the Crimson Tide and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, has long been regarded as a popular candidate to replace Moore due to his UA connections and his success managing the Ravens.
But as recently as February, following the Ravens' Super Bowl victory, Newsome told The Baltimore Sun that he has no intentions of retiring.

"That's not even close," Newsome said. "Really, I enjoy the guys I work with and I think we have a great staff. I really, really enjoy the players and my relationships with them, and that helps me in coming to work every day. Of course, winning helps, too."
In 2009, Newsome remarked in a public speaking engagement in Florence that he held some interest in returning to Alabama at some point in his career. "I am coming back," Newsome said. "I am coming back at some point. I have a lot of work to do in Baltimore, but I am coming back."

Two thoughts have occurred to me,

One, I hope Coach Moore will write a book about his times at Alabama, just imagine all of the things he has seen and heard. Would love to know the TRUTH on the hiring of Coach Saban.

Two, I think it is awesome to see Bama Fans clamoring to hire Ozzie Newsome, for Alabama to consider a Black man to run ALL of the sports associated with the University, is in my opinion, a wonderful thing. We caught alot of flack for not hiring Coach Croom ( I was in favor of it), this would send a message that couldn't be ignored

I'm 100% on the same page as you're thinking... not just so we can say "hey look we hired a black AD, things have changed!" but because Newsome is from the "family" and looks like he would be perfect for the job with his management type experience.

P.S. I was on board with Croom too, he had way more experience than Shula, and I remember my dad being PISSED that they didnt go with Croom.

Some interesting names getting mentioned by fans...

Phil Savage and Sarah Patterson

Phil Savage would be an interesting pick. He has player personal/GM experience... wonder if that would give Snake the chance to come back to the commentary booth.

It never entered my head. I could give two sh*ts what color he is. I think he would be the best fit

Neither could I, it doesn't change the fact that many do...
