šŸˆ Mack Brown digging his heels in at Texas

If Texas boosters could buy ANYTHING, why have they suffered with just one national championship since 1970? The oil's been flowing out there for a while. Even aubrun has won one in that period, and all they have is a busted banker, a bouffant dog racer and a serial cowboy doubling as a lumber salesman. Perhaps it takes more than gobs of money to make a winner, to be a winner, rather than just growing tumbleweeds until the energy lottery came calling.

I mean, mama says you don't have to worry 'bout money no more. You know, one less thing.

RTR,

Tim

The key to everything is not that Saban or Ms.Terry told the press they were staying, but Saban told AJ he's staying, so whatever dream Texas fans have of him going to Austin to coach is burst now.

I get Saban has been dishonest about not leaving before then left, but he didn't tell his player(s) that he was staying and it became public. AJ himself asked Saban and Saban said he was staying and that Ms.Terry wants to stay and said as much to Nick

It's easy to take a cynical view on things said in NYC with AJ. I'm not questioning his integrity, but putting things in their real context doesn't have AJ asking Saban if he's staying in that kind of conversation.

I would imagine the frustration that Saban is feeling, assuming he is feeling frustrated, about this Texas speculation is only driving him to stay. It's a mess that he created himself when he left Miami and he appears to realize it on some level. I can't imagine he's the type of person to do something once, have some regrets about it, and then do it all over again.

Agree with what you are saying but I honestly don't think he has had any intention on leaving to begin with.

I'm sure AJ's head is swimming with accolades he didn't expect to win (Maxwell and Walter camp 1st team honors) but Terry, he said that Coach Saban said that to him before he boarded the plane to Orlando and repeated the same comments over the course of multiple interviews. He (Saban) has also been reassuring recruits that he is going nowhere according to tweets by almost all of the prospects he visited. He even mentioned to, I believe either Elam or Robinson that he was working on a better deal at Alabama.

Cam Robinson tweeted my favorite of the day yesterday when he said,

Cameron D. Robinson ā€<img alt="" src="https://ih0.redbubble.net/image.567420689.0744/pp,650x642-pad,750x1000,f8f8f8.u2.jpg" style="width: 75px; height: 100px;" />@</s>crobinson_68 <small class="time"> 12 Dec </small> When people hit me with that "Your coach is going to Texas" I just look at them laugh & say "No, you just want him to go to Texas"

Come on, fosh. Frustration Saban is feeling? It's an annoyance that's thought about and then dismissed as he moves on to the next thing on the schedule. There are 12-14 hours of the day he doesn't spend thinking about this. When he does, where is he?

What you've mentioned about Miami is right around the point all of this talk should have stopped. I can't honestly say I'm not happy it didn't.

It's entertaining as...[SUB]loss of words....[/SUB]

Well, apparently Mack Brown has dug in his heels pretty well.

That is definitely not good news for our Texas Longhorn faithful. I've just checked some of our boards. Its not pretty. We, Longhorn fans and alumni, have waited so patiently for change. And we thought we were really close. It's still not over yet, but this is not a good development for us. I think, however, that Alabama fans should be happy with this news.

This goes back to what I was saying earlier. It was definitely true that Mack was on the way out. It wasn't just Chip Brown from Orangeblood who cited high-level sources indicate that Mack was on the way out. This was a poorly kept secret. Something must have happened to change things. I think that this leads credence to the backstory of the contract breach that I spoke of, and the purported behind-the-scenes negotiating with Mack Brown's agent, Joe Jamail. Not a good night for Longhorn fans. :(

...and now it looks like there are unconfirmed reports that Saban has signed the extension with Alabama. Its on Kirk Herbstreit's twitter.

Had the same feeling when I saw Chris Davis return that kick. No worries bud, things will change soon. We went through the same hell post-Stallings. The football gods for some reason like to piss everyone off.

This Friday the 13th... This Friday night is the worst night ever. Seriously.

for Texas fans, we had two things going well for us.
1) the highly probable resignation of Mack Brown, and
2) the potential future hiring of Nick Saban

There was way too much smoke to not have a fire and even the most skeptical Texas fans really like our chances on getting both of those things. What a terrible night. I'm still trying to figure this out. Even my friends, a few of them were in the know, just were blindsided by this. Everyone in Austin was. There was some background chatter recently that Mack's lawyer, Joe Jamail, was really pushing the contract breach angle that happened weeks ago because of Texas Regents contacting Sexton / Saban... I honestly thought it was going to be a non-story and that Mack would be gone by the end of the week. I'm stunned. Just stunned.

Sign up for ShaggyBevo. Good lord, I thought our meltdown against the goat humpers was bad, these guys want to kill someone. Its a damn riot.

Ahhh. You've discovered our treasured ShaggyBevo website. Go gently. The great thing about that forum is their mostly unfiltered appeal. Fair warning though, a lot of the pics, avatars, and even language are also uncensored too, so don't let the wife see what you reading it.

Well, I'm not sure how to respond to this other than just stick in there. Sounds shitty, but really, I think once Brown is gone, you guys will get a HC you want.

Been reading it for years. Alabama has their own smaller version called WoollyAl. Landthieves could also be considered be the ShaggyBevo for Oklahoma. The place is great.
