🏈 LSU losing quarterbacks in fall camp

Bama, the barn, Georgia, Texas A&M, LSU, Florida, have had some major QB purging in the last few years. It's just going to keep happening. The stats show QBs are the least likely to stick it out, no matter the situation.

It's not that surprising. QB is nominally the most important position on the team, it's one of the most difficult positions to master, and only one plays at a time. If you are a backup QB and not getting reps in practice it's unlikely that you will get a chance to showcase your skills. As a result most kids see transfer as their only option for getting on the field. And remember, college football has become a minor league for the NFL. That's all these kids care about anymore. So if you are a QB who's not seeing the field, your only chance to show the NFL what you can do is to go someplace where they will put you on the field. I don't like it or agree with it, but that's how the kids see it. From their perspective, the NFL is their future, and they have to do whatever it takes to make it there.

Not unexpected but official, Justin McMillan also said his goodbyes this morning so LSU is officially down 2 QBs in the depth department just like that.

LSUs QB woes continue. They mirror Auburn in that respect over the last decade. With Cam Newton being the only real exception.

LSU will continue their slow, steady decline that started the day Coach Saban was hired at Alabama. Soon, memories of DiNardo will fill the minds of the bayou brethren.

Yikes, two scholarship QBs?
What's left:
Joe Burrow - Ohio State grad transfer. Threw 39 total passes at OSU.
Andre Sale - walk on sophomore from Arkansas
Myles Brennan - true sophomore from Mississippi. Probably your most likely starter.
Jordan Loving - true freshman walk-on from Louisiana, just added to the team in the fall.

And after Bama’s 3 transfered ......a year or two ago.....
It just sounds like standard procedure to bama fans....or should

The only caveat I would add to that is that typically (going back to Phillip Sims) when Alabama QBs have transferred it has been after fall competition has shown a clear cut starter and that starter has had some success on the field. The situation at lsu looks different to me. Looks like Burrow is basically going to get the nod because nobody else is left. He is still unproven as a starter

In that it has become so common, especially at Alabama, I kinda look at it 2 ways. Are you a graduate transfer or someone that doesn't want to compete early on. I can understand why Bateman, Cornwell, Morris, left after they did their time and competed. Don't like it, but I get it. I don't always appreciate the quick exit some of these other guys have taken. Including Barnett, Del Rio, Sims, Starr, Ely, and those of their ilk.

We have had 11 QBs leave town early during the Nick Saban era and frankly, we are staring straight on at #12. For me, emotionally speaking, leaving as a graduate transfer QB is nowhere equal to the other.

And i can mostly accept leaving as GT....".ok i ain’t playing and dont wanna be holder for Extra points...so i will head out and go somewhere to play one last year"
Cause after college...for most football is over as a player......ok...
Most All the ones you listed....didnt really work for them...but ok...and does open up scholarships....for kids like Tua....lol
And nick is going to recruit the best of best..
Thats where the LaTechs, USAs, scarf up on good potential...and works for some...
The lsu story must be that ....the coaches have decided between 2...and they were getting all the reps...not most...but all... big game to open season!
