Fans aren't that stupid, but they better be prepared with a way to unclog them quickly. Guys will be running off the field (or falling onto it) all over tha place due to clogs.
No one likes this idea and I'm guessing no one has seen a picture of the helmet as well? Helmets already have vent holes so integrating this seems like a hell of a start.
We haven't seen a case of that in the NFL who have been using electronic communication systems in helmets for years. The equipment the players wear in practice to measure speed and other things are battery powered.

I'm surprised you don't know about this. The technology may be older than you are.
Paul Brown (yes, that Paul Brown,) in the mid-50's, was part of the group of three who invented helmet communication. It was banned for awhile and then the NFL made it a permanent "fixture" in the game in the first half of the 90's.
The players I referred to earlier weren't NFL players; I was talking about Alabama, specifically. I'm guessing you've seen discussion of the Catapult System⢠which UA has used for several years to track players.
All of these are battery powered devices used within the game.
Most LI battery fires are from bad engineering and design (the phone and laptop debacles recently) and damage that pierces the battery itself. As long as they take care of the first one the second is going to be almost impossible in most sports.
