Dwayne Thomas is fired up with good reason.

The LSU defensive back is one of four players on the team who was a member of the squads in 2012 and 2014 that lost to rival Alabama at the last second at home – a pair of just misses in a five-game losing streak to coach Nick Saban’s crew.

Thomas is entering this year’s clash with the Crimson Tide with a burning desire to win, and he’s confident about it, too.

ā€œI really see us dominating this offense. I really see us dominating this team,ā€ Thomas said of the top-ranked and unbeaten Tide, a team that’s won seven of its eight games this year by double digits.

ā€œThis is the year,ā€ he said. ā€œWe’ve been letting them off the hook for the last couple of years. This is my senior year. We’re going out with a bang. It’s time for us to bring that win back. We’re going to be at home. I feel like we have the edge to take it to them, and we’re going to take it to them. I feel like we’re going to dominate this game.ā€

During this off week, the streak is burning in Baton Rouge. The five-game skid is seared in the minds of a group of players who are now battling for an interim head coach. They’re brimming with confidence, too, in the midst of their ā€œnew season,ā€ as they call it.

The 19th-ranked Tigers (5-2, 3-1 Southeastern) are 3-0 under Ed Orgeron heading into the Nov. 5 game against Alabama (8-0, 5-0). Ten days before the meeting in Tiger Stadium, Thomas, a fifth-year senior safety, handed the Tide motivational material to extend its longest winning streak over LSU since 1981.

Sure, Bama players might hang this in their lockers. He doesn't care.

ā€œWe put stuff up too. If that helps motivate them, so be it,ā€ Thomas said. ā€œWe know what motivates us. We want that No. 1 next to their (name).ā€

And now Coach O is in on the act...Really? Wow! Is he setting every corndog up for a major fail next weekend!

LSU interim coach Ed Orgeron was asked by a fan earlier this week if he thought his Tigers had the depth to "could hang" with No. 1 Alabama on Nov. 5.

His answer was emphatic.

"Hell yeah," Orgeron said Tuesday at a New Orleans Quarterback Club meeting, per WWLTV.com.

The No. 19 Tigers (5-2, 3-1 SEC) host No. 1 Alabama (8-0, 5-0) at 7 p.m. Nov. 5 in Tiger Stadium.

RELATED: Fournette says LSU will beat Alabama is fact

In proper "Bull Durham" style, LSU's Leonard Fournette announced his presence with authority against Ole Miss on Saturday night. The running back ran for 284 yards and three scores on 16 carries to set the LSU single-game rushing record, breaking Alley Broussard's 250-yard mark against Ole Miss in 2004. It was his first action since aggravating a bone bruise in his ankle on Sept....

The Crimson Tide comes in with the No. 4-rated defense in the country and leads the nation with nine defensive touchdowns and 32 sacks.

Orgeron has pretty good reason to feel confident.

"Ole Miss put 43 on 'em," Orgeron said of Alabama's 48-43 win on Sept. 17. "So they're not invincible."

Meanwhile, he told those in attendance, "The truth is we kicked Ole Miss' butt."

Ole Miss rolled up 522 yards against Alabama, while LSU held the Rebels to 325 yards in a 38-21 victory.

"They're very efficient at what they do - well coached," Orgeron said, according to WWLTV. "They are a team that prides itself on blocking, tackling. They're well coached with big time athletes. They're big and physical up front."

"In order to beat a team like Alabama, we're going to have to be at our best," he said. "And I know they understand that."

This poor kid probably has gotten an infection from a splinter in his ass from sitting on the bench so much. I feel sorry for him, he knows they need this sort of "talk" to convince themselves that they have a shot to win the game. Not to mention Orgeron, that cat can't hold a head coaching job and will be left as the bridesmaid yet again after the season ends. I suppose he figures he has nothing to loose by "talking" the talk. LSU has a case of the little brother syndrome here

All I see is a player speaking his backside off. Then the coach doing the same thing. Just because he work with Kiffin doesn't mean he know what going on in Kiffin mind. If that so that every time Coach Saban with up again one of his old coaches than he would lose.
