I agree, between Staley and Mulkey, I don't think another big personality is going to be an outlier.

She's not a serious contender for the job. It originally started by Gasden newspaper and it spread like fire.

I was told this am by someone who actually goes to UA WBB games that this defeintiely wasn't a surprise to Bryne and that Curry has had a foot out the door for the last 2-3 years now. As previously stated, she wasn't satisfied with the commitment to WBB and the relationship with UA had soured. Basically, it sounds like a move that is best for both parties. She gets a fresh start in a lesser league with UA level resources (at least), And Byrne gets to bring someone in, likely a hungry younger coach, who has an understanding of the financial limitations and will accept it and hopefully be able to make up for it in other ways... which could lead to more revenue avenues in the future.

FWIW, there's a report that was published Sunday, maybe Monday, covering roster 'costs' for the teams in the S16. Bama was right in the middle. It's where the money is being spent. It wasn't on the women's program.

It is a shame that we are last in the SEC in spending for woman’s bb! Absolutely ridiculous!

Curry did bring the program back to respectability with what she had to work with. Sometimes, a new start is good for the program and departing coach. I just hope AD GB brings in someone that can build on the foundation that has been laid.
