FSU: 0-1 (a chance to even it out this season)
Colorado: 1-0
Clemson: 2-1
Utah: 0-1
Va Tech: 2-0
Texas: 1-0
Penn St: 2-0
Mich St: 2-0
Mich: 1-0
Notre Dame: 1-0
Oklahoma: 0-1
West Va: 1-0
Ohio St: 0-1
Wisconsin: 1-0
USC: 1-0
Washington: 1-0

Nothing we don't already know. But I'm just marveling at it. In fact, I'd put the quality, quantity, and success rate of Saban's OOC schedule up against any other 10-year coaching stretch in history. Am I out of bounds on this, guys?

A lot of the teams you listed were not on our OOC schedule. But I doubt anyone gets close to Les Miles, LSU. He only lost one OOC game in the regular season in 12 seasons. That was his last against Wisconsin at Lambeau field and it probably helped get him fired.

Saban has only lost one in regular season, in 10 years and that was in his first year. Miles did not have to rebuild LSU, Saban did that for him. Not hating on Miles but to say nobody gets close is not quite correct.

Didn't do much homework on the subject, but Bama lost to Florida St and LA Monroe in 2007. And for the record, it's not a big deal to me either. But it does say that Miles won a lot of OOC games on the Bayou.

Miles did a great job....Les was unique....
Interesting how history repeats itself.....Miles was fired...because he couldn't beat Bama...period...
We all know that..all the other almost reasons are additives...
Charlie Mac...(MaClendon)....had an awesome run at LSU....but...couldnt beat ?........Bama/BEAR...
Fired....and the LSU program labored for years..till NS arrived..
Nicks run...including OOC games is remarkable... Are we in the middle of NS at Bama...?????
Hopefully

My thread topic was "OOC record," but yes I accidentally said "OOC schedule" in my post. My point was looking back at all the different Power Conference opponents Saban has faced in 10 years at Bama. Had someone told you at the time of Saban's hire that for the next 10 seasons we would face all these different traditional power programs and fare so well against them, you wouldn't have believed it. By my count Saban is 16-5 in these games, and 3 of his losses were one score margins. Moreover, what traditional program has he not coached against during his tenure at Bama? Nebraska ... Miami ... ??? I just think it's amazing to be so successful against so many different quality programs.

Off the top of my head, I do agree that Miles seemed to nearly always do well in his bowl games, but I'd like to see the quality and diversity of his OOC opponents beside Saban's.

Well, Saban has lost 2 regular OOC games in 10 seasons at Bama. Not bad given the level of OOC games we've scheduled on a neutral site. What's most amazing to me is that Bama never seems to have those ballgames against inferior opponents where we struggle and get beat, regardless of conference or not.

Miles wouldn't step it up against the big boys and he paid for it. But he dominated inferior opponents and that isn't easy to do for that many years.

Both in 2007 and LA Monroe was definitely inferior.

Tough audience. Bama was up and down and courting trouble in 2007. Too many Jimmy Johns and DJ Halls to not be ripe for something. Then that same group would go out and whip up on a pretty good 10essee team and even upset a talented R-kansas group. Can't make excuses for losing to La Monroe, but when the Bama machine got up and running, it has been remarkably consistent.
