They've never understood why we revere Coach Bryant and Coach Stallings, mainly because they've never had someone they could appreciate like that. Coach Bryant won us a bunch of national championships and got a statue. 'Course, that ain't all he did, is it? Coach Stallings won us a national championship and got a statue. Now, Coach Saban has won us a national championship and gets a statue. Why the heck not?

LSU could put statues up for Dietzel, Saban, and Miles, if they wanted to. Truth be told, they ought to put one up for Cholly Mac, one of the best coaches the Tigers ever had. His only problem was that he couldn't beat Coach Bryant.

Both sets of Tigers, LSU and Auburn, are getting on my last nerve.

The only person they ever loved and revered, has a football field named after him down there on the plains. Those jack-asses would be just as bad as they make us out to be, if they had anyone to love and revere.

Just to enlighten some of you, Mr. Seal's signature says "MWR Technician". He is a civilian who works for the Department of Defense, perhaps former military enlisted himself. "MWR" stands for Moral, Wellness, and Recreation, which manages most matters relating to these items. That include running movie theaters, gyms, and softball leagues...or the varients found down range. "Technician" apprently means that he currently does not have enough to do.

On a slightly related note, the fact that a DoD guy in Iraq is indeed "wrapped around the axel" regarding football should tell you what it is really like over there. If you rely only on the nightly news to give you your opinion about what things are like now in Iraq, you would find it odd that Mr. Seal is making any comments at all regarding football. But this is just how much things have improved there. Having been there three times, the most recent just this past summer, I'm happy for the Iraqi people (who I have found to be genuine and gracious hosts in the same spirit that we southerns pride ourselves in being) and proud of the work that we have done.

So go on Mr. Seal, criticize what you can not have. Its a Bama thing, you wouldn't understand. Question our ways all you want, but come home safe when your time is up there...and thanks for your support.

I’m not going to agree with the author of the letter because he is obviously a first class douche and has motives other than what’s in the best interest of the city of Tuscaloosa and the University of Alabama. He could have easily made his point without being so insulting. However, I do think we are jumping the gun on the whole statue thing. I don’t see anything wrong with waiting for Saban to retire before erecting any statues. You never know what will happen the next five years and I would hate to spend all that money and regret it later.

RTR....I don't see how we would regret it. No different than fRan. He was here and is part of our history. He has a place at the Bryant Museum. All the coaches that have won a MNC has a statue out front of the stadium. I say put it up and have the ceremony. Then as he adds years to it, have another cermony to unveil that year being added behind the statue. All the coaches have the year(s) listed behind them in the semi-circle surrounding their statue. Personally, I don't see the big deal with going ahead and doing it.

Most everyone seems to agree that if Saban left tomorrow, that he has accomplished all that he set out to do and was payed to do. Yes there would be upset fans and Barners would roll Toomers Corner as if they had beat us, but I don't see the gnashing of teeth that occured much like back in 02. I hope Saban stays here another 6-8 years, but he has righted the ship and we could just about cherry pick who we wanted because Bama is a premiere job again. I say put up the statue. Here's to adding years to that 2009 that will be placed behind it.
