It seems to be a rush to judgement when saying Miles wouldn't work there. There's a lot of similarities to Kansas and Okie State (when he was first hired there.)
OSU had won six games over the last four years before Miles was hired as OC in the mid-90's. Kansas has won about the same over the last four years. OSU went from three wins the year before he was OC to eight wins the year he left to coach at Dallas. They fell back to that three and four win season until OSU re-hired him as their head coach and he turned that around again to an eight and nine win team. The foundation we saw Gundy inherited was from Miles. When Pickens started throwing money at the OSU athletic department we saw them hit the double digit win mark.
If he's done it once--and it's essentially twice--in the Big 12 with his style of offense what's to say he can't again at KU? OSU doesn't have any inherent advantages over OSU.
Records and performance are similar, but the history and opportunity is not. Pickens threw money at OSU. Who is going to throw money at KU? The fan base is apathetic. Recruits don't see it as a way to get to the NFL. It's an uphill battle across money fronts. Will KU pay for a good coach when they don't have the money coming in?
