For those interested in seeing LSU's issue with Miles' contract, the following things should be pointed out.

1) Miles will be owed the remaining terms of his contract if he is fired without cause. That's $3.75M/year for 4 years (2010-2014 since he got an extension as of the 8th win this season against LaTech). That means his buyout will be ~$15M

2) The buyout can be paid out over twice the time he's under contract. That means it can be split over 8 years at $1.875M/year unless he gets another job in which we have to pay the difference in his salary to bring him to $3.75M.

3) Miles will continue to get a one year extension for every season he goes at least 8-5. Given our general cupcake OOC, he basically needs to go 5-4 in the SEC and bowl games to get another $3.75M reset on his buyout. Next season we have two rent-a-wins OOC and two average OOC in WVU and UNC.

From a Tigre Board.

Why would they fire him ? Because of one bad managed game ? I highly doubt it. He played close games against the #1 and #2 teams in the nation. He has a good record this year and has been in the top 10 as well. He isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

His clock management skills are horrible. With the talent he has, he should win 10-11 games each season. Those cajuns aren't going to be happy with 8-5 year in and year out and losing games to piss poor clock management skills.

And I don't want him to go anywhere, either. As far as I'm concerned, I hope they keep him a long, long time!

Funniest thing is with each season he goes 8-5 he'll get a one year contract extension. That means pretty much every year, the buyout will get about 4 million bigger. Could be a long road for the Tigers.

There's the thing lilstat. It's not just one game, but a handful. UT back a few years ago, Auburn last year. Then, you have the point of them coming off of an NC appearance in 2007, going 3-5 in SEC play last year and sitting at 4-3 in SEC play this year. You've got an offense that has declined steadily over the last three years. Miles in an offensive line coach and it could easily be argued that was the worst unit on their team this year.

They've got plenty of reasons to be upset.

Upset, yes I agree. But not fired. He actually surprised me this year to be honest. I didn't see them being the 3rd best team in the SEC in the start of the season. Then again, I didn't see us being undefeated either.

There is no question, he has made some crazy calls in his coaching career. Some have worked, some have not. This last game they played, no question about it, was a loss because of coaching. The players did everything right to have a chance to win and their coaches let them down. But he won't get fired because of it. He is 50-14 (.781) in the SEC. That isn't too shabby

I thought most had Ole Miss winning the West ?

Some did. A few picked LSU, a lot picked Bama.

I thought before the season that the LSU vs Ole Miss game would determine the #2 team out of the SECW. It pretty well has worked out along those lines. Had LSU coming in 3rd, then Arkansas, Auburn and MSU.

I can't bring myself, as of today, to pick Arkansas to win this weekend.

The one team I missed on, and missed by a HUGE margin, was how Georgia would perform.
