| FTBL Lee Corso is a IDIOT

You just now figuring out Corso is an idiot?

his coaching record is 73-85-6. the only thing I think he is good at is getting on my nerves.

did you know he was college roommates with the "Bandit"?

Yeah I know he was one but still pi$$es me off that he said that our OL which has 2 top 20 draft picks on it, isnt good. He was talking that OK pass protection was alot better. Probally because they have 250lb DE coming at them in the big-12 and not 300-330lb DE like in the SEC.

Dont forget, he has been saying all year that USC was the best team despite them losing to Oregon State.

I didnt hear what he said, but if he said Bama cant pass block like Ok, he is probably right.

It is actually true when it comes to pass protection. That's why it's imperative for Bama's offense to succeed with the plays called on 1st and 2nd down--to set up third and short, forcing the defense to more play honest.

Everyone knows what is coming on 3rd and long when Bama has the ball. Many times in that situation, JPW had to pass under duress or had to rush throws, not allowing longer routes enough time to materialize effectively. If given the protection that OK affords Bradford, JPW could pick apart any defense.

That's not saying that OK's OL line is overall better than Bama's, that just saying the Sooners' OL is better when it comes to pass protection.

The problem with Corso's statement was that he resorted to a generalization.

I agree. Our O-Line is built to run the ball, which sometimes translates into not being great at pass protection. If you go back and look at this season, on any obvious passing down, our O-Line struggled. Play-action was fine, but just straight drop back passing and protection was tough for us this season. That is why it was so imperative that we have success running the ball to set up PA.

I agree that Oklahoma's line is better @ pass blocking.

Mike Johnson and Drew Davis had fine years but they are much better @ run blocking.

Hard to argue with any of this. Our O-line has struggled in pure passing downs & with blitz protection this year. On the other hand, we shall see how well OU's line blocks for Bradford against UF.....as I remember, they didn't fare too well against UTEX.

The "poor ol Alabama" comments really wrankled me as well.

Yeah poor ol hapless Alabama who couldn't beat anyone all year. Poor ol Alabama who had Tebow a.k.a. "the golden child" and his team on the ropes all day yesterday. Poor ol Alabama who's offensive line is overmatched by everyone they play.

Heck, we should just stop playing football I guess.

The Bowl selection show was crap. Doubt my opinon would have changed if BAMA had beaten Florida. I'll be glad when somebody with some very deep pockets comes along and diversifies the sports network scene. CNN had the news market cornered for several years. Not so today. ESPN is ripe for the taking. This chit sounded and looked like daytime soaps. Reece Davis/Jim Fowler appear to be the only persons of sound mind and reason affiliated with this network and I guess it's the big bucks that keep them there? I almost changed it when I didn't see Alabama's helmet but Ohio F!*&ing States!!! WTF??

Flame away boys and girls but they suck and I know Eisner owns ESPN and loves Miami, etc, blah blah blah. Unbiased my azz.

I contribute $ to UA and I will voice my small opinon to the powers that be that we keep these chitholes off our campus....Gameday or not.

I would say I feel better but I know I'll see their smiling faces next year on campus and watch their check clear.

Roll Tide!

I didn't watch it last night...no reason to since the bowl locations were pretty easy to figure out.

But, it certainly appears I missed something! Wild Kingdom comes to SportsCenter!!! I'd bet that was a hoot! :D J/K

Lighten' JG. We've said the same thing here on multiple occasions before this season kicked off.

And, just as a fwiw, the heaviest/biggest DE we've faced this year is probably Tyson Jackson and he's in the 285-290 range. Our DE's are the biggest in the SEC and we don't have one over 300lb.

330lb?

Corso said what every Alabama fan has said for years. He just said it on National Television in a way that seemed he was not only being negative but as if he was making fun of us. That is why Bama fans are up in arms over this. The truth hurts and we all know it.

Bama has a great run blocking offensive line. Line up, find your guy and kill him. As long as they are going forward they are powerful. But when it comes to pass protection they are (and have been for years) less than good. Our tackles (even Andre)are too slow to stop outside speed rushes consistently and the interior line never seems to adjust to stunts and blitzes. This is our achilles heel and fortunately for us it was never really exposed this year.

Just be glad we don't have to play Oklahoma because they would kill us. Stoops would stack the box, bring people from everywhere and tell JPW to try to throw it to our receivers who can't get off the line. We would have to watch JPW stare down his one receiver, then run diagonally backwards towards the sidelines and eventually throw it out of bounds off his back foot. We just simply would not be able to keep up and that will be evident when they stomp Florida in the ground.

Pass blocking is definitely not our strong point... Even the ones that are draft prospects (Smith in particular) got beat several times to his outside Saturday..

That said, bring on the Utes..
