🏈 LEAST favorite Bama player of all time

A while back, I posted a "Favorite Bama player of all time" thread. Got some great responses and discussion.

Now I am curious as to who your LEAST favorite player of all time was. Was there a guy who just rubbed you the wrong way? A player who never hustled? A guy who screwed up big time in a big situation? A player whose name makes you nauseous/angry just thinking about him? Sound off!
 
I can't remember his name, seems like he was a linebacker,white guy, played under Shula, transferred to Florida and then started talking about illegal activities at Bama. I liked him up to that point, thought he was a decent player, considering he was playing under Shula

Again PhillyGirl :argh: this guy to me was just a cry baby. But, I think most was because of his new coach too.
 
  • That Canadian DL we had under Shula's reign (McKay-Lauscher ??). Without telling stories based on rumors, Brooks Daniels could have completely fulfilled his role at UA had his mind been focused on football instead of...
  • DJ Hall...A role model for inconsistency. I was at the WCU game when Brodie tore his ACL. I never faulted XCMS for leaving Brodie in the game as long as he did because the offense was never clicking. If DJ could have caught either one of those two TD passes that went right through his hands, maybe Brodie would have been pulled. But that's not what irritates me about him. His complete lackadaisical attitude about football in general...And all the stories about what a locker room cancer (that might be too strong a word) he was just makes you wonder what someone else who maybe wasn't as highly ranked as he was could have done with his scholly.
 
D J Hall, without a doubt. You could watch his stance, and if he was not the featured receiver in a pass pattern he dogged it. Rarely bothered to block. Plenty of ability, possibly NFL level, but his attitude kept him from playing at the next level.
 
This is a potentially dangerous thread, but I will participate. I have a little different perspective. A certain wishbone QB was my idol as a teen, overcoming a serious knee injury in what was then an unusual return to prominence. Recently, I had occasion to learn exactly how ungracious, pompous, inconsiderate and self-absorbed he had become after projecting a radically different persona as a player. That player, who I held in the highest esteem, is now on par with any mentioned here.

I have to separate off the field and on the field.

@bama alum brings up DJ, as does @psychojoe and I agree with both of them; especially alum's use of inconsistency. Hell of a game against TN. However, in his case his off the field bullshit is what turns me off the most.

On the field? The first guy that came to mind is Big Red—Dustin McClintock. I really enjoyed watching him play and appreciate his effort. All of that ended on one day, one play.

11/18/2000. I was already in a bit of a surly mood as wet, cold, and admittedly a little on the buzzed side. I want to say it was in the third quarter, maybe early fourth, when I saw him lose his temper on the field and take a cheap shot (punch) at one of the Auburn players.

In my top five I've got to include "Beach Abs" BC.

My least favorite would probably be Gene Jelks for obvious reasons. There really aren't a lot of guys that I hate. Even DJ Hall I still really like and maybe its cause I was still in school and he was one of my favorite players my senior year. Prince Hall was a waste of talent tho, same with Duron Carter.
 
If memory serves me correctly, back in er.. um.. the very late 70's, Bama had a QB that was once described as 'quicker than a hiccup before his knee injury'. He sure presented a good, wholesome image. But, I'm probably thinking of the wrong one...
 
Curious, anyone know Brooks Daniels whereabouts? I googled him and could not find any recent info. His story bothered me back then and I was optimistic he is doing well.
 
I met Eric Curry one year at a fund raiser we were doing for George Teague's Foundation. I must say he was a total ass. I still like him, but his bookend brother (John Copeland) was far more nicer. I have met a few of our guys through fund raisers and such and really loved doing the fund raiser for Teague, he was a very nice guy and went out of his way to meet and greet.
