Meh, he's a borderline celebrity. They will release him to show how "compassionate" they are. If it was one of us we'd never been seen again or even if it was a native Chinese person, they'd probably get a 5-year prison/work camp sentence.

by saying it's "not a big deal", he's telling me that he's failing as a parent in teaching his kid the different between right and wrong and respecting the laws of not only this country, but others as well.
