So, what if she doesn't? What if he were to bolt after he gets the job? All we really care about is keeping Terry Saban happy. She was none too impressed with what Austin offered apparently.

I wonder if Terry (and Nick) are political conservatives. I heard Austin is a left-leaning city.

Well......I just cant believe it....not that im necessarily disappointed, just shocked. College Football has no coaching boundaries anymore. Hell....it just very well may be the kick in the azz our new offense may need. RTR !!

my supervisor played for kiffin at ut. and said kiffin treated him good. he also said he brought a different kind of energy to the team and was a hell of a recruiter. i've not made my mind up on how i feel about the hire, but i hope the team gets out of obknoxville with no bullet holes !

Mixed feelings I guess. When you look at the numbers he improved USC with in his return as head coach though, it becomes more clear it's a business decision. He knows his football, d-bag or not.

My main satisfaction with this hire is the angst that it has caused in obnoxiousville

My main concern is his cavalier attitude towards recruiting rules, at least when.he was at UT. He has been.a loose cannon at every stop. I trust that.CNS has a supply of very short leashes.

His offense will be a lot like what we have run théâtre last seven seasons. His first big chore will be to find and develop.our next qb.

Still torn between this... I absolutely LOATH Lane Kiffin as a human being. He has also done alot of questionable things as a coach as well...

On one hand he was a very, very efficient OC with USC but lets not forget he was only an OC for two years then he became the awful, terrible head coach for the Raiders. He helped Tennessee rebound after a horrible year and then left the place burning with NCAA violations and other things. Then the dumpster fire in USC. He was calling plays, if Im not mistaken, at USC and there were alot of times it was mind boggling how inconsistent they were with the type of talent they had. I trust Coach Saban but I just dont know how these two personalities wont clash.

My question would be......Did the USC firing humble Kiffin enough ? Would his ego allow him to be an OC again ? to the point that he would be a solid contributor to the program and not cast a negative light on anything.

The Raiders firing sure didn't... I think it had the opposite effect.

Well, LSU no longer has the best OC in the SEC.

I hope we fire him after three games and replace him with Coach O as an interim.

I can't believe Daniel Tosh is now on our coaching staff...

Personally I'm fine with the hire. Kiffin might not of been a great head coach but he isn't a bad coordinator hire. He will be great for recruiting or at least brings more tot he table than Nuss did. That's not a knock against Nuss just saying Kiffin has the bigger resume and I think kids relate to his style. I just hope he does it the right way and does not pull any stunts that will get us in trouble. Mainly I think he is here to develop our QB's and I think he will be great in that regard. Time will tell though but we have some highly touted QB's and they need a great coach to develop them. I'm excited to see what the offense will look like and if he will utilize the backs in more dynamic ways going forward. A-day should bring a crowd just from the new staff and offense along with the QB battle.


in regards to him running his mouth I don't think that will be an issue. Think about what UT was going through before they hired Kiffin. When he came in he knew he needed to light a fire and get the Vile nation behind him. So taking shots are Urban Myth was gravy for them but of course we all just watched the side show and laughed at it all. The way he left UT for USC and all the meltdown from it was of epic proportions. I will never forget the Vile fans posting youtube videos of them burning all their fan gear and swag. It was priceless. Who can blame a coach for wanting to leave that dump in Knoxville? I don't think it's going to be an issue here at Bama as Kiffin seems to of matured (or be humbled) while he was at USC. We all know that Saban doesn't allow coaches to talk to the media much so I don't expect to hear much from him.


The other bonus with this hire is that its rubs against the Vile. Anytime we can do that I'm game!

I am super shocked. Especially considering that the vast majority of Alabama fans were deriding the choice of Petrino back to Louisville. Kiffen's actions at his last couple stops haven't been exactly honorable. I thought integrity meant something to your program.
