🏈 Kirby interviewing at Auburn today

LOL....no UGA has not offered him anything to my knowledge this year. Year before last he was offered the Asst. HC title at UGA. He turned it down. Last year he was offered the same with the "Head coach in waiting" moniker attached to it. He turned it down again. This year remains to be seen if UGA does anything.

I'll give you a little something to watch though... Watch Texas and Richt. Not saying anything will happen, but it might be worth keeping an eye on.

I don't care what spin they put on it. Do you think Au wants it out that Smart turned them down? I'm telling you, he had an offer. If you don't believe me, that's fine. I know what I know.

So Smart turned it down? Or are you saying they're not saying he's been offered in case he turns it down?

OK...since I have been posting with you guys (the last 20 minutes), I have received 3 texts from Bama people that say he turned it down. I have not received anything from the one guy I need to hear it from before I say 100% that he turned it down. I think the second part of your statement is exactly what they are doing. Can't turn down a job you weren't offered. It saves face for them.

Honestly, I don't know how one could see Kirby going to au as being a blow to Alabama. Sure, the talking heads can churn out the storylines and exaggerate things, but the reality wouldn't be such, imo. CNS' program and process will continue unabated until he decides to move on.

Kinda looks like au being little brother again.
So what if they get one of CNS' assistants? He's not a proven commodity as HC, and I would assume we could smack them around for at least another 4 or 5 years before Smart could compete with his mentor.

au trying to make a splash just makes me think of me making my own splash...in the bowl.
What kind of coach goes there without knowing exactly...exactly what kind of crap the NCAA has dug up from that cess pool? A desperate one, that's who.
It'll be Raining Dye-arrhea over there for a while, imo.

Looks like I'm batting .500 at the moment. Not that I really care. I'm wrong all the time, just ask my wife.

Like I said, Smart is too smart to take a job at Auburn...

Having said that, Smart is THE hot assistant coach right now so be prepared for a serious offer that he can't say no to pretty soon...

Roll Tide!

I concur. Now it all depends on UT (in my opinion anyway). If Fisher doesn't leave FSU, Strong will be their guy. If that's the case, Louisville would be a perfect place for Kirby to kick off his HC career. They spend some money on football but don't expect him to win every game. As a team they are in great shape. It's a great place for him to get his feet wet.
