But the question on everyoneās mind is how Kiffin will change Alabamaās offense.
As Volger said, āitās Saban,ā so donāt expect a dramatic shift in philosophy from what has won Alabama three championships in the last five years. Still, with a new offensive coordinator naturally comes a few new wrinkles and changes.
Kiffinās changes might just be a little more noticeable than the ones before him.
āA lot,ā center Ryan Kelly said when asked if he sees the offense changing. āI mean, obviously we have new plays, new formations, stuff like that. (Offensive line) coach (Mario) Cristobalās done a really good job transferring a lot of what Kiffin brings to the table to helping the offensive line understand it. For the first couple of weeks, weāve just got to base what we learn now off the old offense. I think toward the end of the spring weāll be clicking like that.ā
...
Still, even if Alabama throws in some tempo here and there to keep defenses on their feet, Alabama is still going to do what it does best.
āIt's hard to say just because all of us, everybody that's involved in the offense now, has been in the pro-style,ā Vogler said. āIt's hard for me to say right now if that would work for us. I think we're a team that's made to be maulers. Guys are just going to be really physical with you, hit you from every aspect of the game and hit you in every direction. I just don't know if that's really our style of being speedy and trying to be elusive around everybody and dodge people like other schools do.ā
