🏈 Kenyan Drake?

I was wondering that too. I know after the UA/AU game, Cecil Hurt retweeted him. He said that he was not hurt during the game. Makes me wonder. Did he mess up during the AU game (missing assignments or mouthing off at the coaches)?

I did hear a lot of good stuff about the improvements Henry made during the bowl prep. Looks like Drake will be relegated a little further down the depth chart.

Not running Henry (I call him Big Red) all night long was akin to have scratched Secretariat in the '73 Belmont.

I wonder why he felt compelled to mention he wasn't going anywhere. I didn't know that was even a consideration. Maybe he had considered going somewhere. Maybe he should go to work - as in the weight room, class, the film room...

just think, though. if he's out of the proverbial doghouse next season look what we'll have.....again.

Yeldon
Henry
Drake

and that's just the top 3. there are more that can be just as good down the line.

i like our chances at this particular position for the next few years.

i liken it to the bowl game from the 2010 season against michigan state. we use our starting rb (who scores a couple times.) then we put in our second string rb. he scores. we put in our third string rb. HE SCORES!

Unless he gets his head screwed on straight, and keeps it screwed on straight, whether it's his plan or not won't matter.

Terry, what has he done to get in the doghouse?

it seems odd that if he was in the doghouse that Saban would even let him play that one series in the Iron Bowl. Drake was never seen again in that game so I'm guessing he spouted off at the staff or players during the game? Sucks because Drake is one hell of a back but I'm thinking we might never get to see him play wearing a crimson jersey if things don't change. Watching him on the sidelines with his arms crossed made my stomach sick.

I want to see all of them in the game. But, until the UofA send me a check in the mail. I will leave it up to coaching staffs. It looks to me that Bama has three that could start with any other team, but these guys want to play at Bama. Don't we have some more coming in the next year.

I believe it was Tim (It takes Eleven) that mentioned a week or so ago that this is the first season we'll have our starting RB rotation back in Saban's tenure.

It should serve us well.

It's all mentioned in this thread.

"Watching him on the sidelines with his arms crossed made my stomach sick."
I hear ya but have to say it reminded me of a petulant child.

I spoke with a guy whose son plays with Drake's little brother. He told me at the beginning of the season he was upset with his playing time and was mulling a transfer. My guess is he got out of the doghouse, played terrifically when called upon, got back in the doghouse and is where he is now. I believe after the taste of stardom he got, he decided to stick with Alabama. Hopefully he gets his act together and can showcase his talents. He's the best back we have in my opinion. I love TJ Yeldon, but his shiftiness cost him yards whereas Drake hits the hole and is gone. Either way I think our backfield will be twice as good as any other in the country next year.

Our guys are very good running backs and have strengths and weaknesses.

Yeldon's biggest weaknesses are his tendency to run straight up, hesitate at the line (even in very short yardage situations which kills me), keep his feet together on cuts and not lift his feet high in stride to step out of tackles. That being said, that close stance, his hesitation and quick changes in direction are where he makes more out of most runs. By not lifting hid feet, he gets tripped up often. If he had Trent or Mark's balance he'd have gotten another 200 yards running the ball this year.

Drake just doesn't have the strength and size to break tackles and routinely move the pile. Because of that, he struggles more to finish runs and loses ball security often. He is unbelievably quick and is suited to off-tackle to outside runs. I'd love to see him more on swing passes and screens.

I haven't seen enough of Henry to see any major negatives. His high leg kick is perfectly suited to step out of tackles and is in stark contrast to Yeldon. Earlier in the year, I thought he had a tendency to bounce it outside prematurely, but he gutted OK inside on his few opportunities.

All three have breakaway speed. Yeldon may, by a hair, be the slowest of the three.

RTR,

Tim

According the recruiting gurus, Alabama has more talent than any team in the nation. Can you imagine how many games the Tide would have lost if they had equal talent? Is it because of dysfunctional crap like this?

For lack of a better example this 2013 team was a lot like the 2010 team. Some had the NFL dollars in their eyes, some believing things are supposed to be handed to them versus having to work for what they could achieve.

A sense of entitlement doesn't fit in my eyes...but I can't, for the life of me, find a better description.

FWIW, I'm not one that believes Bama has more talent than any other team in the nation. Personally, I'm not one that believes there's a great deal of difference between the #1 recruiting class in the nation versus the #5 class. There is a difference between #1 and say #10, but not to a large degree.
