🌎 Keith Olberman Calls Holtz a Scumbag

I don't watch or listen to any type of sports commentary (except what I read on here). And people Keith Olberman is one of the reasons why. I don't understand why you can't just let the man rest in peace. Why does he have to take jabs at him simply due to his political affiliation? People like Keith Olberman try to politicize everything. I guess they do it to get clicks and to generate buzz due to them not getting enough (in their opinion). if you're a sports announcer or sports show host or something along those lines, I don't want to hear about your political leanings or ramblings or thoughts or any other bullshit like that. Talk about sports, that's why you're there. Otherwise, shut the fuck up and move on with your pathetic life.

Same goes for people in the entertainment business (music movies/TV).

This type of stuff has to stop.

Can't even respect the dead anymore

Why does he have to take jabs at him simply due to his political affiliation?
Why did Greg Price have to bring Catholic and Biden into parting thoughts on Holtz passing? With no defense intended towards Keith my first thought earlier today was "that looks like a troll from Price" riding on the coattails of the news.

He's dying from lack of attention, or he didn't plan well for retirement.
From my view:

In the middle of the last decade, '16 I think it was, Disney buys ESPN. KO is still employed at the time. He's already started "coming out" with his political viewpoints on air and on social media. He fit the narrative.

In 2020 he leaves and joins MSNBC. After being lauded on how informed and educational he's been he finds himself fired from MSNBC. A product, promoted, but never a product desired. Just like the WNBA.

Now, still believing his is the intellectual on the stage, he has to make sure people know of his acumen. It appears, in the end, the sardonic sense of humor that led to his popularity on ESPN is the exact thing that killed him when he entered the political arena.

(I didn't look. It might be worth the time to see how many conservatives KO follows on X. As often as he appears it gives the impression he's looking on online skirmishes.)

BTW, since I know you guys love analogies.

You ever been in a situation where you've seen a couple that just recently got together and it changed your opinion of one of them? You know, you see a guy that's with this girl and it's "can't believe he's going there." Or, vice-versa?

As soon as the news of KO and Olivia Wilde hit the wires ... that's two genders of bat shit crazy meeting each other.

IMO, he, like all public personalities should keep their political opinions to themselves. I should probably do the same.
You are assuming we pay attention to what you think. 🙃

If people have a platform and don't understand the the simple notion of "a time and a a place" they've lost their place.

This is a little off the path of the subject, but Olbermann fits into it.

I've noticed a trend over the last decade or so (I think Trump and the spell he has on many plays into it) where many far left liberals have become just flat out miserable people. They hate everything from their country to themselves and lash out at anyone that comes into their realm. Their aim, realizing it or not, is to make everyone else miserable too. It's a sad existence.

And I'll say this about the very far right... they don't appear to be miserable, but many have lost their sense of reality. They have no self awareness. More and more, they buy into conspiracy talk and then get tangled in that web, all the while, thinking they are the sane ones.

I personally know people on both ends of this. In both cases, it's sad to watch. Annoying at times too. But mostly just sad.
