I was amazed that they banned the use of text messages in the first place. It made as much sense as only allowing one phone call per month.
There's another point here that needs to be taken into account. Just because a coach couldn't text a recruit doesn't mean they didn't use third-parties to do the same thing.
I'll agree there should have been some kind of limit five years ago because most of the carriers didn't allow unlimited text messages per month. Now, that's not the case with the majority. At the worst, you'll see a plan where it cost an extra five bucks or so for 3-400 per month. Watching the cost was one of the driving focuses when you had kids receiving phone bills in the hundreds of dollars.
