I am not impressed.

Last season he inherited one of the most talented DL's in Bama history. I knew then that while the DL was playing at a high level it would be foolish to give Dunbar the credit. Allen, Tomlinson, Anderson, Williams, Foster all playing up front will make a DL coach look good no ? Those guys are playing at a high level on Sundays.

I knew this would be the season we would get a good idea of what Dunbar has to offer. This is the weakest DL vs the run of the Saban era. They are getting pushed around. They are flat out getting gashed in obvious run downs !?! Payne, Buggs, and Davis are monsters so I'm left wondering where is the disconnect.

The LB play obviously is not helping any, but the DL should never get owned like they did last night, or vs LSU.

Also Dunbar is not getting it done on the recruiting trail. I know he was given credit for a couple high profile guys in last seasons class, but I believe those players were locks to Bama.

Anyone disagree, or maybe have another take on the DL coach that may ease my concerns ? Right now I feel as though we are heading for disaster especially in recruiting where we continue to miss on one DL target after the other. Was it Coynis Miller a few months ago that said he hardly ever heard from Dunbar ?

I honestly think the DL has been better than expected... Their shortcommings are emphasized by the fact we have no LB's to pass rush. In Saban era D Lineman have never been expected to sack the QB... Some have done it anyway, we don't have any of that type of talent this year (DE's DT's that are natural pass rushers).

Run game they've been weaker than the normal Bama fronts but again you're comparing them to some of the best DL's in CF history. They were bound to take a step back. I feel like msot games they've held stout in the middle... Didn't watch last night's yet but not having Hand healthy is a killer, otherwise playing Q Williams and Ray who are basically green freshman.

Buggs has come along, Payne has been pretty solid, Davis just in his second year. My expectations weren't very high because of this. As far as recruiting I'll wait to see how the class fills out... So far I can't really complain, the young guys are still too young. JMO

Great point. I know Dunbar has proven himself at the NFL level, and he is obviously a hell of a DL coach, but there is taking a step back, and then there is getting blown off the ball on first and second down. MSU was 3rd and 2 all night long. I agree with you about the DL being better than expected from a pass rush standpoint. No doubt the slack in that department is on the linebackers. I'm more concerned about getting pushed around on early downs in the run game, and recruiting. Something didn't look right last night, and I dont think it was all poor LB play.

Yeah he also can make plenty of NCAA rules violations. Keep propping him up but there's a reason his dumbass isn't here.
I thought Bo got in trouble for helping out a players mom that was in a dire financial situation. Not a player being recruited. A "no good deed goes unpunished" type of situation ?

If that was the case then I'd say he has learned his lesson, and I'd love to have him back.

No, that's not the reason. A booster set up a meeting that wasn't allowed with four recruits that Davis went to (what happened there who knows) and then he lied to both Alabama and the NCAA about it. When he lied, Alabama told him to resign or be fired.

Yikes. Yeah, thats a career ender at Bama.

I dunno, bruh. I'm frustrated. Top college football program in the land, and we have a huge need at DL, and we continue to miss on prospects. Meanwhile the barn beats us out for the top DL in the state, and their DL absolutely stonewalls UGA, and holds them to some embarrassing rushing yards total while MSU gashes our DL.

MSU is basically the lighter version of the barn. So if we couldn't get their offense off the field I cringe at what the barns offense could potentially do. We really need some linebackers to return or step-up.

I know we are still in it for some DL that could satisfy our needs, but we are really down to a thin margin for error.

I'm rambling now... as I write this I think my anxiety is stemming directly from watching the barn dismantle uga on the same night I realized for certain that our run defense is a big time possible liability.
