🏈 Kareem Jackson

My opinions have nothing to do with our team next season. I highly doubt with Kareem leaving that means we have no chance of repeating. And if he stays wouldn't mean that we repeat. My deal is education is more important than the money he will make in the NFL. What if he gets hurt like David Pollack did? He has no career and no degree.

He could always go back to school later though.
While i think he would be better served staying another year, it's his life, and a 2nd or 3rd round contract is still good money.

I see apples and oranges in this thread. Pollack is comparable to his fellow Lombardi winner Rolando as a great "can't miss" NFL prospect, not someone less than "can't miss", which is the prevailing board view of Jackson. Does the "can't miss" who leaves early without a degree make a bad decision? Perhaps, but that's not Pollack. He got his degree.

Also, just because the nonprofessional view of many on the board is that Kareem isn't ready, that doesn't mean the scouts view him the same way. I believe educated assessments give him a higher grade.

Wow, pretty sad to see some of the comments that have been posted about one of our players, and team leaders. Not sure how anyone can blame him for making the jump. If you do, then you simply don't understand the situation. Personal reasons aside, he is 4 years out of HS and has been a 3 year starter under Nick Saban at corner... and NFL coaches love that. Another year in the system isn't going to improve his stock much, if any. However, it is possible that his stock could plummet if he suffers a Hightower type injury... it happens. Furthermore, according to someone who is an expert on such things, as it stands today, he projects as a late 1st to 2nd round selection. He will now get a Combine invitation, and his showing there will have a lot to do with where he ends up on draft day (just as it would next year).

Bottom line, it was a sound decision for him to come out, and anyone saying otherwise has sour apple syndrome.

“I’ve thought long and hard about this decision and I have decided to declare for this year’s NFL Draft...”

“I want to thank all of the coaches at Alabama, especially Coach Saban and Coach Smart, for making me the player and the person I am today. I also want to thank my teammates and everyone in the Alabama family for making my three years here the best of my life. Most importantly, I’d like to thank my family for all of their love and support.”

“I set a goal and made a promise to myself and my parents to finish my degree so I definitely plan on doing that. I look forward to coming back to visit everyone because the University of Alabama has become my second home and my second family.”

So if you were in college and could leave early making millions doing anything you would turn it down? Somehow I dont think so.

With online colleges, off season, etc he could always fiish his degree. If he played college next year and blows out his knee he loses that money. I've seen it too many times. I dont blame him. I would do the same thing.

I love the holier than thou attitude of some people online.

Good luck Kareem.
