🏈 Kareem Jackson

I never called him lazy.

I just said he seems like a kid that simply got sick of going to class and wants to get paid ASAP.

That's pretty much akin to calling the kid lazy.

In respect to "assuming"...saying he made the right choice is also assuming.

Did I ever say that he did? Point to me where I said that. I simply said we did not know his situation, therefore we are not in a position to call it stupid OR good.

This is a message board pal. I'm just expressing my opinion, as are you.

Okay...did I ever challenge that? I never said you couldn't... I'm only questioning your opinion.

My opinions have nothing to do with our team next season. I highly doubt with Kareem leaving that means we have no chance of repeating. And if he stays wouldn't mean that we repeat. My deal is education is more important than the money he will make in the NFL. What if he gets hurt like David Pollack did? He has no career and no degree.

Cory

BINGO!!!

Many "middle of the road" juniors get HORRIBLE advice, yet jump at the chance to make the mighty dollar!

Who's to say he'll even make the team? As a mid second rounder you aren't promised ANYTHING!

He needs that degree, especially when he's taking a major gamble with his future in this fashion.

Unlike Rolando, he's not a "can't miss"...

What's Kareem's major? If it's the typical football major, the degree ain't worth that much in the 1st place. He'll make more money from being associated with a NC Bama team than the degree.

Also, it wasn't like he was gonna be a 1st round pick next year. Was it stupid for Coffee to go pro early? I say no. If your draft status is as high as it ever will be, you go.

Well, I respectfully think KJ could have improved his draft standing by returning to 'Bama.

In the NFL, defensive backs are treasured much like WRs are treasured.
You need folks who can catch...and you need folks who can cover.

I think he could have increased his standing simply due to the position he plays.

what job is he guaranteed with a colege degree.. since 2007 roughly 250,000 people have lost their jobs in alabama.. it would take most college graduates 5-10 years to make the same money that base salery in the nfl would pay in just a single year.. degrees mean nothing in todays world.. this is a legitimate chance for him to propell himself from the hype that alabama's defense created this year.. if he makes a team then he just took care of his entire family for a solid amount of time.. can you say that?

"colege" degree?

Well based on your position it's obvious you don't think much of a college degree. Just b/c the economy is bad doesn't make the importance of a college degree any less important.

I'm certain he wants money, and if he plays his cards right through effort...he will get all the money he wants.

Getting a degree is not about a job...it's about finishing what you start, my friend.

So then, you hold the same opinion for Rolando? Because he left without getting his college degree too.

As stated before, Rolando is a "can't miss" and one of the GREATEST players in college football. Unless he forgets how to "work hard" he is a sure fire "hit" at the next level.

As for Kareem, he has A LOT of work to do in respect to football.

Rolando made his "case" to turn pro and everyone in college football knows his worth.

Kareem? Not so much.

In my opinion, Kareem is taking a major risk, like so many other juniors with his talent level.

Just b/c you can go pro...doesn't mean you should. Just my opinion.

Only this kid knows what is best right now. I could not imagine having to make the decisions that face these young men. Best of luck to ya KJ and thanks for all the sacrifices you made for this university.

<<<NEWSFLASh<NEWSFLASH>>>>>

most of these kids do not play college football because they want a college degree.. they play because they have no choice.. they are not allowed to play in the nfl until they have been out of school for three years.. sure they could go to canada, but this is their quickest and closest route to a career in professional sports.. kareem jackson's family might be living in poverty.. his football career might be their one chance to live a reasonably healthy and normal life.. he might have younger siblings that have no way to go to college themselves.. you simply cannot judge him or what is right for him.. this is a great opportunity and i wish him the best..

from the replays i have seen, he may have gotten burned on a number of occasions with the hitch and go move shipley was giving him and they had a QB that could throw accurately...one more year couldnt hurt.

save this thread and lets see where he is at this time next year depth chart wise

Good luck KJ! Thanks for a great 3 years! Ill never forget your interception freshman year against Tennessee in Tuscaloosa! That cemented you as one of my favorite Bama players of all time.

I think this is a similar situation to Coffee last year. End on a high note, with a great defense. He knows theres some young guys with talent coming in that could complete for some PT and what not. Its hard to turn down the money. I hope he signs a FAT check!
