🏈 Julio Jones gets $16.2 million over four years from Falcons, according to report

Former Alabama star Julio Jones signs with Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons have signed wide receiver Julio Jones, the sixth overall selection in the NFL draft.

The Falcons also signed linebacker Akeem Dent, a third-round pick from Georgia, and running back Jacquizz Rodgers, a fifth-round pick from Oregon State, on Thursday.

The Falcons have signed each of their six draft picks in time for Friday’s first practice of training camp.

Jones caught 179 passes for 2,653 yards and 15 touchdowns in 40 games at Alabama. He is expected to join Pro Bowl receiver Roddy White as one of quarterback Matt Ryan’s top big-play targets.

Millions to play a game....Ive never agreed with the amount of money that the players make....but thats capitalism....and If I was offered 16 million to play a game...Id take it too. I wouldnt agree with it....but Id dang sure take it

For a little bit of a comparison...

Back in 2010, Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain, the eighth overall selection in the draft, received $23 million guaranteed on a five-year, $40 million deal.

Us everyday folks scoff at the idea of them "losing" money, but that's a lot of cheese left off the sammich. Still though, I don't see this effecting a college player's thought process.

Congrats Julio! Gonna enjoy Matty Ice throwing to him and Roddy for years.
