🏈 Julio Fractured Foot?

So not only did Julio run a sub 4.4 40yard dash and outjump EVERYONE at the combine, but he did it with a freaking fractured foot! At least thats what the NFL Network just said. Jesus this dude is a freak. Imma miss the hell outta him! ROLL TIDE!

I think those draft guys look at the consistency of catching the ball and not their overall skills. Julio was plagued with some drops while AJ was making all of these circus catches. Regardless of who goes first, Julio will probably have the longer career IMHO.

Actually my boyfriend likes to point how Julio Jones reminds him so much of the lovely Braylon Edwards. (He was a Brown's player, now with the Jets) He is famous to make circus catches but dropping the easy ones, like I notice Julio tends to do.

For receivers it's really a few things scouts look for. Does the player catch the ball with his hands? Are all his routes consistently crisp? What are his instincts after the catch? When he disappears during a game, they all do, how does he come back?

The measureables are important but Julio and AJ are so close that there is no real discernible difference. Julio outrunning AJ helps, but AJ plays much much faster than Julio based on the games I've seen.

I think Julio's superior combine at least has him in the same discussion with AJ now. I can't see any receiver going in the top 7-8 this year though.

Watching NFL Network, they've just had a 3-4 minute discussion about the foot. Will require surgery, its the same injury that kept Crabtree from even working out in the combine his year.

Needless to say, JJ impressed. Period.

Roll Tide Julio.

yeah ,that catch is about the only thing they got in common, although Braylon drops way more than Julio and i dont see this as an issue with him at this point ! Braylon "butterfingers" Edwards has major character issues, had one good year in the NFL and thats about it really , i would want to be compared to him if i was Julio :D

My big questions about Julio going into the combine were his top-end speed and more consistency with his hands. I feel like he definitively answered the speed question and showed better hands at the combine than he has in quite sometime. The only knock that I saw on Julio, and it was small, he didn't appear to be attacking the ball like some of the other receivers. It feels like he lets the ball come to him too often instead of going after it. I think if he were to attack the ball more he'd avoid letting it into his body as often, which would eliminate 90% of the drops he had.

He has great speed and great size and generally has good hands. He has a much better build for the NFL than AJ Greene. If Julio had been able to remain consistent his sophomore and junior years, we're not having a discussion about who the first receiver taken is--it would be Julio and I don't think it would be close. He certainly boosted his draft stock but I'm afraid the NFL teams will look at the total body of work instead of his workouts. While he may have turned a corner, it won't help him enough to get him over AJ. That being said, Julio will end up in a much better place. The Rams aren't a terrible team--one win shy of the playoffs last year. AJ will most likely get picked up by a cellar-dweller, maybe the Bengals. I really like Julio to the Rams. Their starting receivers barely had 1,000 yards combined last season. Julio looked NFL-ready as a freshman. Receiver is a position you can come in and make an immediate impact. They will have to be creative with his alignment because he will no-doubt draw double-coverage. If they draft him he immediately becomes their #1 receiver before even stepping onto the field. The only team in front of them that is actually a good situation for him would be Dallas. They would have a lot of tools around him and he wouldn't have to be THE guy. If he falls past the Rams, I like the Patriots to make a move to get him.

Five years from now the team that takes AJ over Julio will be kicking themselves.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I have said this from day one! I think he improved leaps and bounds this past year in actually catching the ball and thereby showing his full potential, as opposed to just the inherent skill set he's always had which includes trucking people, but before this year he always let the ball come to him instead of sticking his hands out and catching it. For that reason I have always complained about his drops! I'm so glad someone else affirms what I've always thought!!

Oh, and for the rest of the post, very very fine, very good post, Duder.

He's a hell of a talent that we probably won't see every again at Bama(Unless Eddie Williams ends up at WR haha).

He needs to drink some more milk or something though.

Julio is getting a second opinion on his foot - he doesn't believe it is fractured because he has no pain. He never knew anything was wrong, it was discovered during the routine medical exam at the combine.

If he didn't say "ow" how could they say it's broken?? That makes no sense.... Not saying you're wrong, that story just seems very odd.

If you compare Braylon @ Michigan to Julio @ Alabama you see the same receiver. I'm not talking statistics, necessarily, but size, speed, ability after the catch, etc.

You see a fast receiver who can stretch the field, and make a lot of circus catches, but had some key drops that were due to mental lapses and running before the catch.

Julio is a Top 10 talent, but will likely go between 10 and 20. If St. Louis doesn't draft him at 14, I'd be quite surprised, assuming of course Washington doesn't grab him at 10.
