The state of Alabama defines a Class C felony as: (1) Uses force against the person of the owner or any person present with intent to overcome his physical resistance or physical power of resistance; or (2) Threatens the imminent use of force against the person of the owner or any person present with intent to compel acquiescence to the taking of or escaping with the property.

Humphrey was selected by the Baltimore Ravens with the No. 16 overall pick in last year’s NFL draft. He recently completed his rookie season with the Ravens, tallying 34 tackles and two interceptions.

Does anyone not see the irony here? A charger.

It's a fact. Bama players don't pay for Chargers. I thought we all knew this by now?

I believe the police here. If it was a simple miscommunication they wouldn't have arrested him. Think about it

not necessarily. the cops can detain and arrest on suspicion as long as they believe a crime has been committed. it's the charge from the d.a. that's the key. if it comes out later that he he did NOT take it or it was a misunderstanding and it's worked out between Marlon and the driver, then charges can be dropped and he's free and clear with no other issues about it.

innocent until proven guilty. cops don't need proof to arrest, only suspicion. burden of proof is on the d.a. (or whoever handles it at that level).

News here in Bham said the charge was reported as a misdemeanor, but police upped it to felony because Marlon was reported as having clenched fists during the incident. Robbery 3 is brought when there is force used in the otherwise misdemeanor. I've had a little wine so I hope my explanation makes sense.

What's the difference between Robbery and Theft...force. I've stood on principle for less than $15 more times than I can count. Doesn't sound like someone trying to strongarm Marlon to me based on this, but realize there are two sides to the story.

Lots of legal experts in this thread... But very few with common sense.

Y'all really think the Uber driver, who's very likely sober (at least not drunk), is really going to make a huge fuss and press charges if he accidentally took the charger?

And you really think the cops are going to take all this time to arrest Marlon if that was the case? Absolutely not.

Don't know the difference between theft and robbery, maybe Sportsdame is right, but common sense tells me there are 2 reasons Marlon done f'd up. And smart money says he wasn't sober... Shit happens when you party hard.

EDIT: The police report speaks for itself... Not cool, Marlon.
