🏈 Johnny Manziel Kicked Out of Manning Camp For Sleeping Through Meetings

I want Manziel to play us. I want to beat the best and show he was a flash in the pan one year wonder that slid under the radar. I want to beat A&M and knock them down a peg as well. I like Sumlin, but can't stand the high trajectory at which A&M has taken due to the move to the SEC and one successful year. I hope he learns his lesson on the field against us and not due to a suspension.

"Due to Manziel's recent actions off-field, we have decided that to serve as punishment, Manziel will have to play against Alabama September 14th and suffer through the beating that the Alabama Crimson Tide will put on him and the Texas A&M Aggies. Everyone makes mistakes, and we think this is a good way for him to learn from them. Thank you.."

-Kevin Sumlin at SEC Media Days.

What second issue? There is no second issue. The thing that PhillyGirl posted was the FIRST issue, it just took that long for the court case to be finished. He was "punished" (in their eyes) when it first happened so why would he be punished again for the same offense.

Crappola, I missed the whole 2012 notation. I swear I read the whole thing but missed that. I thought this was another incident but I was wrong.

"Johnny Manziel claims he was 'absolutely not' hungover at Manning Camp; blames early exit on oversleeping"

First it was dehydration, then it was oversleeping .. following pictures of him at a a bar. This is quite the mystery!

ESPN needs to tone down their reporting and stop the spin of stories. Fans don't need to know everything that goes on in such a public manner.

My take on Johnny, he also needs to tone it down. He's learning an awful lot about life in a very short period of time (certainly more than most). He is the creator of most of his issues AND received help from the media and fans to blow things further out of proportion. In a weird way, I respect him for blazing his own path and doing things on his terms.

Oh yeah, good thing Alabama has never had any strong minded QB's on roster :)

I think the difference in reporting is that in today's age of 24/7 news coverage, and intimate coverage via Twitter, instagram, Facebook, etc, it's easy to get such a crazy look into the minute to minute happenings in a guy's life. It's scary but it's today's celebrity culture. It's definitely annoying, but imagine how different sports as we know it would have been in the past with social media and this rampant celebrity culture. Can you imagine Joe Namath with Twitter back in the day?

It shouldn't necessarily be a deterrent to celebrities but anyone with fame in this age has to be aware of their actions and what a simple Tweet can do to their image. Manziel is learning that, albeit slowly. It's a sad reality. He shouldn't feel like he has to change his life, but he should be aware that he will be scrutinized.

I have a family friend who is a TAMU alum, and she mentioned that there are some Aggie forums where folks incessantly STALK the guy and analyze his movements/actions/posts/pictures. So some people are definitely feeding the media monster, and the media responds to this demand with an ample supply of coverage. It's a vicious cycle.

I know one thing for sure though; I could NEVER be a celebrity in today's age .. it would drive me NUTS. :icon_bounce:

EDIT: This just popped up on my college football feed; http://espn.go.com/college-football...-texas-staff-advised-honest-source?src=mobile

"Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel has apologized to the Aggies' coaching staff and is being advised to be honest about what led to his much-discussed departure this past weekend from the Manning Passing Academy, a source told ESPN.... Manziel, who is scheduled to speak at SEC media days Wednesday, was "very upset" as he headed home from the academy and has privately conceded that he needs to continue to mature, the source said."

Like you said, ESPN at it again! I just hope all this nonsense doesn't distract him. I'm not a big fan of him or anything, but I do want a good revenge game this season!!

the thing about him that annoys me is this whole "I'm a 20 year old, I make mistakes" primarily because hes regurgitating excuses people on ESPN have made for him. Yes we all do dumb things at that age, I know I did but I wasnt a Heisman winner with the world watching and I didnt announce those stupid things on social networks. Plus, the lying with the Manning Camp. I say lying because we keep getting different stories. The official story was "he was sick" and then Manziel's dad said he was dehydrated and now Manziel himself claims he simply overslept (anybody that will buy that I have some beach front property in Arizona to sell you).
