I bet it's coming. They have to clean house. IMO, the GA (now receivers coach) needs to be broomed immediately. I cannot FATHOM how he at 28 or 29 as a GA saw Sandusky sodomizing a 10 year old, and did not immediately intervene and get the child to safety. Instead, he calls his Dad for advice!!?? I hope he serves some jail time if there is any legal angle that will stick.

I 110% agree. What goes through a person's thinking to call Daddy and not law enforcement?

Just a thought I had on that...

He grew up with Sandusky's kid...playing football, etc. Both dad's are friends.

It makes me wonder if Sandusky approached, or even did something with, him when he was a kid. I think it's a question that bears asking.

an angle that never crossed my mind, but that is a great point

There's nothing to suggest that. I took the time to read the pdf of the complaint, sickening as it is. Sandusky took boys from difficult social and family situations and manipulated them over time, typical operations of a homosexual predator. Given the time to consider it, and as mature adults, we can all say what we would do if we walked in on something like this and we question the GA's handling of the situation; however, this is a fairly young guy who walked in on something shocking involving a person in authority, went to the first phone he could find and called his Dad. Dad said leave now, and they went to Paterno the next day. Paterno moved it up the line, but never mentioned it directly to Sandusky (which is absolutely incredible and cowardly), and the higher ups lied about what they were told. No one, including the GA, followed up to make sure the police were involved.

The whole thing is a crying shame. Any perspective or insight on football and coaching in this situation means nothing and is a mere backdrop in a tragedy involving vulnerable and damaged boys and young men.

Bull chit. He's 28 and a former D1 player. Can he say "stop?"

This goes all the way to the top, imo. The BOT had to have known about this since 1998. The first investigation was "closed" before any charges were filed. Who ordered this? It kinda leads me to believe that someone was paid off to go away. Ths man is a predator of the worst kind, and it was allowed to continue on PENN STATE'S watch. The President, the Board(s) and EVERYONE who knew about this and did nothing should go to prison. Was Paterno lied to? Probably. Who lied to him? Who was telling the liars to lie? The layers of this onion are about to get REAL stinky. The next round of firings need to include the ones that voted to fire Paterno last night. I'd bet they have known about this for years, but did not want to tarnish their beloved university's name. DISGUSTING

I think you are sort of right, though a bit to conspiratorial for my tastes.

I do want to know whether or not, as reported to date, Paterno had no knowledge of the 1998 investigation. If he didn't I want to know why and who made the decision to keep it from him. (as a side note if Paterno was not told about the 1998 investigation, it's possible that he was told false information by the AD/ VP over campus police in 2002.)

I would imagine it would have drastically altered his response in 2002 if he had known. (At least i hope it would have.)

I hope those questions get answered.

This is going to get much worse if half of what I hear (from a national sportswriter contact) is being investigated is true.

In my mind, I am wondering if Sandusky's resignation/retirement in 1999 was related to the first investigation. I doubt I'll ever know that answer.

In most bureaucracies it would be frowned on for Joe Pa to have gone directly to the authorities. Having gone to his superior and reported it, I wonder if he ever followed up on it when nothing seemed to be happening. I expect him to speak out on at least some of these matters now.

In line with the last two posts, it would be hard for me to believe that the AD und the Penn State VP were the only ones in the bureaucracy who knew the story.

I am becoming more & more convinced that those in charge kept this under wraps to keep there from being any chance of forcing Joe Pa out b/4 he breaks the wins records. The shear audacity of the men who have been charged, for them to declare their innocence is eye opening, especially Sandusky.

I dont agree with that at all, i think they simply covered it up because of the implications. These same dudes asked Joe Pa to step down back in 2005.

I dont think so, when you look at all of his other victims. They were all at risk kids, boys that didnt have a bother, from a broken home, etc. aka very vulnerable aka very easy targets for this sick man.
