The latest on three Alabama commitments

Alabama commitment Byron Young will take an official visit to Ole Miss this weekend Young will visit Mississippi State on January 25 and LSU on February 1. Alabama linebackers coach Pete Golding is expected to visit Young on Friday prior to his trip to Starkville.

Christian Willams, another Alabama commitment, will take an official visit to Miami this weekend. There is still some debate on what he will do the final two weekends. He is currently scheduled visit Alabama on January 25 and Oregon on February 1. Those visits may flip-flop. He was scheduled to visit LSU last weekend, but did not make the trip. Baton Rouge is a short drive from Daphne. He may make a mid-week visit to LSU, poor to signing day. Williams continues to say he is solid with his commitment. I keep hearing the chances are slim he ends up in this class, but we will see how it unfolds in the next few weeks.

Khris Bogle’s posts via social media this week after learning of Tosh Lupoi’s departure have captured the attention of many. One thing to keep in mind. I’ve said this a few times this week, and also before the announcement- Bogle is an elite player who Alabama accepted in its class. A loss if he flips? Yes, but not as bad as some might think. Does Alabama go after another outside linebacker/edge rusher? No. Alabama wasn’t going to if Bogle would have announced for Miami earlier this month. Who knows what will happen….Lets see who Alabama brings on board (assume very soon) and go from there.

Alabama will not have any official visitors this weekend.

January 25
Henry To'oto'o
Christian Williams
Jared Hunte
Junior Day

February 1
Ishmael Sopsher
Nathan Pickering
Jaquaze Sorrells
Quashon Fuller (FSU commitment)
Daniel Heimuli

-Brett Seither is still debating between Alabama and Penn State for his final visit. I think he will visit Alabama.

-We've heard Demaryion Houston was planning to visit. I haven't heard anything different, but you never know if things have changed since Gattis left. He is tough to reach.

-Also hearing there is a chance Texas commitment Javonne Shepherd may visit.

Recruiting Notes update:

Sign 1 more RB
The thought is Keilan Robinson will stick and sign with Alabama in February. Did he secretly sign in December? He says, no. Deondrick Glass committed to Oklahoma State on Tuesday. However, I've heard if Robinson ends up elsewhere Alabama will give a green light to Glass. My thoughts is Glass will flip.

Is another WR or TE possible?
Yes, Alabama is just trying to get some on campus to visit. The most likely candidate is Brett Seither (as far as a visit). Demaryion Houston is also considering a trip. It's just hard to imagine a WR wanting to jump on board without an OC or WRs coach officially named.

OL
Alabama is likely finished on the OL. I haven't heard anything lately regarding Darnell Wright and Alabama. Javonne Shepherd is a name I mentioned the other day as a possibility (in terms of visiting). Not sure why he would or why Alabama is considering him given the numbers, but we'll see what happens.

DL
Two. Alabama wants two at this position. Byron Young is committed. So the goal is to keep him on board. Can Alabama possibly flip Nathan Pickering away from Miss State? Will Ish Sopsher go somewhere without his brother? Jaquaze Sorrells and Quashon Fuller are scheduled to visit Alabama on February 1. Jared Hunte will visit Alabama next weekend. I just think he's a long shot at this point.

Edge
Khris Bogle is committed to Alabama, but still receiving a lot of attention from Miami and Tennessee. He has a very good relationship with Nick Saban and Joe Pannunzio. I'm not sure Tosh leaving will have much of an impact, but it's something we will continue to monitor. Alabama took Bogle as an 'elite' prospect. Not as a major need. So I wouldn't expect Alabama to offer another edge rusher if Bogle flipped. I don't expect he will. Just giving all the scenarios.

LB
Henry To'oto'o is scheduled to visit Alabama on January 25. I think Tosh Lupoi possibly leaving can have a major impact here. We'll see. Does Alabama take another LB? It hasn't been a major priority, but the fact they are bringing in Daniel Heimuli for a visit on February 1 definitely seems like they want at least another linebacker instead of just another elite player.

DB
Christian Williams is still on the Alabama commitment list. He will visit Miami this weekend. I just think the chances of him signing with Alabama are slim. Alabama is not looking for a replacement.

Any JuCos?
I'm not hearing any at this time. I think some have thrown some names on the wall to see if they stick, but Alabama really isn't serious about any at this time.

Antoine Sampah is the No.1 ranked inside LB in the 2020 class (Justin Flowe is the No.1 OLB). The Virginia native sent me a note a few minutes ago.

"My coach had a great talk with Coach Sal yesterday. I can’t wait to get back down to Bama. I don’t have an exact date as of yet. But it will definitely be between spring ball practices and the spring game.

"Coach Sal and I have a great relationship. He just coached my high school teammate, DT Kyree Campbell, at Florida this past year. As a coach, he’s been consistent I’d say (top 2) recruiting me. I love his style of coaching. Coach Sal don’t sugarcoat anything with anybody and that’s impressive for me being transparent as a coach and recruiter.

"What he tells me he lives by and how he acts off the field is the same way on the field. He’s hard, he’s tough, but he wants the best for you. You don’t see coaches like that everyday. Alabama was already a priority for me, but this hire just took it to another level. This spring I’m just focused on getting my parents on campuses for the first time and to now start building better bonds with the head coaches of schools recruiting me."

Alabama commitment Keilan Robinson had an in-home visit on Tuesday with Charles Huff. Robinson did not sign in December despite some thought he may have 'secretly'.

It was a very successful visit on Tuesday as Robinson won't take any additional visits. He is solid with Alabama. He will sign with Alabama in February.
