From an interview with Coach Moore:

Q: Where is the stadium expansion project in its process?

A: We've made progress with the athletic department side as far as planning it. … We want to duplicate what was done in the North end, so that simplifies our decisions. We are on a schedule, but also, the board will make a call at a certain point as to whether we go forward with it, or delay it. That is to be done in the near future. There is a lot of things to look at here, with the economy situation, before we go forward.

Q: Once construction starts, is it something that can be completed in one offseason?

A: Well, it would be on the same schedule as the North [side]. It took the construction crew one season and it was ready for the next.

Q: How quickly was the South end zone expansion a priority after the last expansion?

A: We even thought about it during that time. My thoughts were a 92,000-seat stadium is a big stadium in the state of Alabama. But I do suppose after coach Saban came in, the first spring game, I had a guy walk up to me and say, 'Coach, your practice stadium is too small.' [laughter]. We had 92,000 to watch a scrimmage, but I'd never heard it put that way.

From what I understand..It'll take a massive effort/$$ to relocate all the utilities, etc south side of the stadium. Once that's done......should be easy $$.

Those sky boxes surrounding almost 3/4 of the stadium will be impressive! Think they will envelope the remaining part minus the press box!?

If your located in that area of the stadium start saving!!

Thank you Gentlemen.

I'm not smart in the details of how such things work, but the utilities that were mentioned must surely be owned by the city, who is 110% on-board if comments from the Mayor that I have read are correct.

This project will surely be some degree smaller and/or easier in that there is no Walk of Champions to consider, and since they are wanting to mirror the other end it should be quicker because they are old pros at it now.

I'm just concerned that, because we are approaching having no construction and it is two months after the last game, that we may end up starting after the 2009 season.

BREAK BREAK
Terry -- what was the date on that interview with Coach Moore? It seems like the same news released just after the BOT meetings a few months back, thus no progress.

Last week..

There has been progress if you consider the different parts of the expansion that have to be approved by the BOT individually.

Someone is getting paid for that progress, so I guess it counts. Thanks

From what I've seen, all that's been done is laying down new piping. The section of Bryant Drive between Sorority row and Rama Jama's is closed off. Nothing has been done on the stadium itself.
WHAT?!? Did you say something about no work getting done because they were Layin' Pipe at Sorority Row? Is the UA paying or charging for this project?
