Decisiveness!!! Jalen has to trust his eyes and be decisive with his throws. Mac Jones showed it Saturday, getting the ball out on time and Tua did it against UGA. In the end, your teammates will respect you more if you make a mistake and are owning it instead of being timid. Some guys may see it as, being selfish with the ball, not spreading the wealth. Trying to hog up the accolades for yourself. I think the frustration was evident at various times last year, when receivers were open or breaking open, to only find that Jalen was tucking and running.

I was just making a point that Hurts doesn't need to be the best quarterback in the country to win the game, he just needs to be the best quarterback in OUR game, and he was again Clemson. You say our D destroyed Bryant, true. You forgetting who we played and how dominant their defense was, yet Hurts still managed to navigate them.

So with our talent level, you're saying we could pretty much win with anybody back there. How would you feel about Mac Jones leading this team, the spring game MVP?

Just a thought, there has been some discussion that this is frustrating the players to not execute advantages we have. Could the frustration also be affecting the effort of the OL as well?

NOW, if other players are getting frustrated at the situation, you may need to take a deeper look and make sure team continuity isn't affected to where a crack in the ship occurs. We've heard the term "processed" before, so I think most unhappy selfish players are processed out of the system, but concern amongst a group of guys may in fact be an issue that you're forced to deal with. Jalen's dad was a complete fool to say what he said to the media. Say that shit to the coach's face and behind closed doors instead of throwing your son and his teammates into the spotlight for negative reasons. I just don't like Jalen looking like the bad guy in all of this, because he has done nothing short of producing for us. We weren't up and down the field on Clemson. The D caused TO's and scored a TD... The O only had 260 total yards of offense in that game which accounted for 17 offensive pts.

I don't think anyone is making Jalen look like the bad guy. Just pointing out 2 things - That his passing inefficiency is an issue when competing for a championship which is really what the standard is with the surrounding talent (seriously, the walk on QB could beat Vandy and UT last year) and that Tua is going to make the O more dynamic.

I think it's very unfair that his father put him in this position in the media... but it was compounded by the poor A-Day performance where there were some glaring weaknesses getting the ball out, especially when the #3 is doing impressive things in the passing game. His pops brought an uneeded spotlight and expectations into that game... unfair to JH.

Here's another: All Jalen had to do to win the spring game in the last 40 seconds of the game was hit a wide-open Henry Ruggs over the middle on about a 15 to 20-yard pass and it would have been a TD. That's it. As bad as he looked all day, just hit Ruggs over the middle with one on one coverage and it was a touchdown. He threw it behind him, again and it went incomplete. Why does that story keep repeating itself?

Jalen's dad was a complete fool to say what he said to the media. Say that shit to the coach's face and behind closed doors instead of throwing your son and his teammates into the spotlight for negative reasons. I just don't like Jalen looking like the bad guy in all of this, because he has done nothing short of producing for us.

It was really poor judgment and the fact it came from a parent who is also a head coach really defies logic. But it has totally changed the narrative of what and how Bama fans feel and think about this QB battle. Everyone is just going to assume that Jalen's Dad has first-hand info that he's sharing with the world. Who wouldn't assume he speaks to his son constantly? We've seen Maurice Smith's parents involved once he decided to go elsewhere. I'm sure parents are in kid's ears like Blake Barnett and Kendall Sheffield's of the world. But this is the first time I can remember where a parent has spoken so succinctly in public, on record and to the coaching staff and fans on the players future even before he decides to announce his decision. I've been saying for a long time now and will continue to beat the drum even after the ugly A Day performance... the 2 QB system would be absolutely amazing. I'm a big Tua believer, but also understand this will be his first go round and there will be challenges. Having another QB taking reps and in game rhythm will basically assure us of having the option to go to the "hot hand" if/when necessary. If the new OC's really want to, they could make Jalen's version of the run game extremely hard to prep for and stop... Especially when Tua is running a more traditional look.

70/30 Tua/Jalen would be my shit. And I do believe Saban wants to keep Jalen involved. JMO

I like Jalen and I hope he stays. His Dad said he won't under certain circumstances so that's not a fan problem. You mentioned some good reasons I don't like to comment much on gameday threads because of all the instant drama. I won't watch a Bama game with a Barner and frankly about the only one who can get in the man cave on gameday is my wife. If it's a big game or closer than what's comfortable I can even make Danielson disappear.

I feel you there. I rarely watch games with anyone. My wife is getting more and more interested as she is just trying to understand the game a little more since I enjoy it so much. My kids are now getting of age where they like to watch, so unless things are very tense, I will watch with them. I have dog cussed Kiffin and Dabol on those live game threads, because like you said it's instant drama and easy to vent, but I do my darndest to keep from talking bad about any player. I am ready for there to be a good ole quarterback showdown and may the best man win. These off months are always hard for the diehard fans, because analysis gets so deep with so little going on.
