šŸˆ Jalan late/accuracy

I love the added dimension and poise Jalan gives us, but his accuracy/lateness of throws has to improve before we get into serious league play. I know he's only a Freshman and will get better; however from time to time I see a beautiful ball thrown by BB8 and wish he had Jalan's poise.

So, do we think his accuracy issues are just a learning curve coming from high school to college or is it more a fundamental issue? Thought?

For me I think he still in the learning stage, but he learning very quickly. Starting next weekend he will be facing 6 SEC team straight with a weekend off in the mixed. With Arkansas, UT, ATm all away game. He did play well at Ole Siss now didn't he.

agree.. his passing is not we all thought it was. There were too many superlatives.
He passes well on the run. But long passes lack accuracy and touch.

BB8 is better on long passes but is horrible in pocket presence and clumsy

He is a true freshman. If is primary vice at this point is the long ball, then he's doing good. Once the OL is able to maintain some consistency, Jalen will be able to get more consistency there on the long ball. The long ball takes time to develop not only in the actual running part but seeing it as option 1 or 2 (long ball is rarely option 3 b/c of time). This about experience.

Agreed, especially on the OL part.

They sucked in pass pro yesterday. Against a fooking MAC team.

With a bunch of 2 stars up front.

Let that sink in. Our OL got whipped in pass pro yesterday by a bunch of DL that would be on our SCOUT TEAM.

Jalen was having to make something out of nothing with his feet in the "pocket" too many times yesterday.

I'm less worried about Jalen's throwing and more worried about our OL in the upcoming conference stretch.

He's still catching up with the speed of the game. I expect several more INTs and sacks before he realizes he needs to play faster and rely on his reads and other players. If Alabama has a do-it-all QB, we're doomed. Use the 5-stars we have.

I'd say more fundamental. He doesn't have an NFL arm like Barnett. Experience won't help with that. He can certainly get better at seeing the field, reading coverages, and throwing on time to make the most of the talent he has.
Who knows how long that will take though, and whether he can take us the distance in year one.

LOL, you're killing it bro. I swear some will never be happy.

He's a true freshman, he lacks game experience and all the reps he'll be getting over the next few years. Let's judge him next year.

Something tells me Hurts will be just fine, just needs some reps with the team.
I think he has tons of potential, but I still have a lot of concerns with our offense, and many with the QB position if we ever need a lot of passing yards to win a game, which we will at some point.

I'm not. You sell out to stop the option, we burn you over the top.

You drop your safeties to help over the top, we burn you with the option ground game.

Simple.

K, pumpkin?

It's not much more than the old school triple -option of days past. It's just in a different formation.
I've always seen this as closer to the Wing-T or Wing-back approach.

But, what the hell does it matter. I'd give a weeks salary just to have people keep straight the differences between a Jet Sweep, Fly Sweep, end around, or reverse. When Bama was playing Ole Miss I had to laugh a bit at Danielson while he kept trying to define the differences in a hurry up attack while calling the wrong plays on the above.

Clearly he's got some improvement to make in the passing game. But this is BY FAR the most comfortable I've felt with our offense 4 games in under Saban. With every other QB there was a sense of dependency on either the defense or the OL dominating a game to avoid upsets or beat great teams... For once we have a QB who can take over the game with his arm and feet. It's exactly what our opponents didn't want. And the best part is he's making great decisions... Whether it's where he's throwing the ball or running it, he's avoiding mistakes. The plays he is able to make with his feet overcome the passing defencies by a long shot. This is as good as it gets... Enjoy it while we have him. RTR

This.

It's like folks have a Cadillac CTS-V with a corvette engine in it, that goes 0-60 in 4.3 secs, but folks wanna bitch because it can't do it in 4.2

Our O-line is an issue that will hurt us as we play more physical teams. They need to get it figured out. I do love that Hurts is a threat on the zone read as that will open things up more for the running backs but he does need to get the ball out of his hands faster.

Not sure, ole miss had a very good front 4 on defense. With Pierschbacher at his old spot, it seems to have settled things down. Bozeman is figuring it out and how steady can a freshman be with Williams at RT? The chemistry should only get better. When we decided to be a running team in the second half against the rebels it might as well have been Kent St.

While I have enjoyed our offense so far, and look forward to it continuing to develop as a young QB adapts to the level of play and speed of defenses, I have to say that four games in during the 2012 and 2013 seasons I was FAR MORE comfortable with our offense four games in than I am now.

Would be interesting to compare stats....
I have to admit that my confidence had much to do with a returning starter at QB, and in 2012 one of the best OLs we have ever had. Comparisons would be kind of apples to oranges. A J ran only when endangered, we huddled, different OCs led to different styles. Nuss emphasized power running, and while we do that some this year, I don't think we have settled our offensive identity yet. We can do a lot of different things but it is not clear yet what our offense will do when it comes down to it
