Jack Nicklaus recorded his first-ever hole-in-one at Augusta National in today's Par 3 Contest at the Masters Tournament, bringing his career-total to 21 aces: "The 4th hole played 123 yards to the pin. You have to hit the ball by the hole if you want to have any chance. I took a little 8-iron and choked down on it. We had a little wind in our face, and the hole plays uphill, so I just made sure I hit it good and solid. I put the ball just by the hole, and it came back downhill and into the hole. It probably carried close to 127 or 128 yards, and came back about four or five yards into the hole. That's my first hole in one in over 10 years. It's nice to do it at a place so special to me, and to have one of my grandkids, Stevie, on the bag only underlined the moment."
Side note: In an interview with Scott Van Pelt on ESPN two hours earlier, Jack jokingly predicted that he would record a hole-in-one in the Par 3 Contest.
