⚾ 🥎 I've always thought the Braves are a joke and still do. The championship trophy is coming to The Joe and it couldn't be on a better day.

Okay I'll bite, why do you think the Braves are a joke? They had the best pitching in the league in the 90's and went to more League Championships than anyone else. Sure they only won one WS title in that stretch but their run under Bobby Cox was amazing. Their teem in recent years has been winning their division and have made it to the NLCS a couple of times winning the League and the WS last year.

Which MLB team do you support?

I think the big thing is their history of not being able to win the big one. How many times did they win their division? How many of those times did they choke - despite having the best pitching in MLB?

The Braves have been very cheap before paying Acuna, and even then they gave him a "big" contract before they'd really have to pay him.

Freddie Freeman? How do you let him go? This isn't the 90's and all teams are guilty of trading guys and having no loyalty. That's why pro sports suck, because you're pulling for the same guy one year and hating him as a rival the next. Look at Brian McCann.

For years the Braves have lost because rhey refused to go after that one guy to get them over the hump, but have been ok with not winning it all, but doing the best they could, from a front office perspective. I'm a lifelong Braves fan, but it's not like it felt in the 90's with this team. They'll deal guys left and right.

Ted Turner and Bobby Cox were the men. They made Atlanta the place to be and made it fun for the fans.

I agree with statement, but I don't think you can mention those 2 guys without mentioning John Shuerholz. He was amazing at the business of baseball and made sure they had a fantastic farm system to groom the talent that allowed them to plug and play for that decade.

Yes, you are correct there. He was a terrific GM. I was sad when he left. Although, his son went to Awburn.

I don't think Freeman is going to be let go. Everything I read was that him and Atlanta were off on how many years the contract was to be. With the universal DH I think ATL ponies up for the extra time.

Yes, nailed it. I am just not sure ATL is going to give him 6 years like he wants. If they were fine with that, why are they taking so long?

Let's just say that I am not optimistic.

I always thought Bobby Cox and their GM was the reason they didn’t win more than 1 World Series. They would always sign some old washed up relief pitcher to support a jam up starting rotation that would blow a series ala Charlie Leibrandt.

They didn't do it before the lockout because the DH was not universal yet and they can't negotiate with any players right now. Once the lockout is over I expect a very quick resolution at 6 years since I remember reading they were willing to go either 4 or 5 already.
