šŸˆ It's being reported that OSU's Offensive Coordinator his headed to Houston as HC.

Gonna post something here from elevenwarriors (the UI is terrible on this forum btw). OC Herman is a member of Menza, which means absolutely nothing to me. Yes I know who they are.

I hope we kick their asses all over the dome.

Lane Kifffin is a darn good offensive coordinator, but his mental capacity is somewhat limited (non-MENSA member). Kiffin also has a limited number of impact players like Amari Cooper, T.J. Yeldon, etc. In a traditional way, they are very good at what they do but the Buckeyes have a better offensive minded HC, OC, and much more skill position firepower. Advantage: Buckeyes.

@planomateo, did you read some of the comments from the link you posted? Absolutely comical! One says that we only have 10 sacks on the season. Another compares us to Michigan State. OK QB play?! Blake has only thrown for 3200+ yds!! Good RB?! I guess they don't know that we have two sledgehammers in Yeldon and Henry and then a little dynamo in Jones that is hard to pin down. Last but not least, this guy puts a WR in the same hemisphere with Amari!!

Yeah, I've been reading their stuff on and off for a week now.

I do think Ohio State is a better team that what they are getting credit for and I think some of their fans are underestimating this Alabama team.

Something interesting, did Herman just walk into a Power 5 HC gig? The Big XII has to be looking at expanding to 12 teams, Houston seems like a viable option. Its almost comical to suggest this, I'm sure Houston would give in to Texas's demands on tiered revenue sharing.

That being said, seems as if Herman is coaching through the CFP playoffs. But then again, I have yet to see him or Meyer address this.

I could see the Big 12 taking in Boise State and Houston. Boise State is probably the most successful (as of late) of the teams in consideration .. SMU, SDSU, etc.

Seems odd we have yet to hear from any OSU authority on this whole Herman matter, or any official statement.

Replacing Herman

Kevin Noon
Managing Editor

The University of Houston still has not made an official statement about the hiring of Tom Herman (upon the publishing of this article) but the handwriting is on the wall and the Buckeyes will be looking for a new assistant coach.

A lot of things will be up in the air for the time being, will Tom be calling plays for the Buckeyes for the Sugar Bowl? What if Ohio State gets to the Championship Game what then? What does this mean for Ed Warinner in terms of being the other co-offensive coordinator?

We will have plenty of time to go through all of these steps in the coming days but people are curious who could be some of the names on the radar as Ohio State at worst is looking for a new quarterbacks coach? People were talking about Chad Morris and Mike Stoops well before anyone was talking about Herman and the Buckeyes.

With that being said, we are going to take a very preliminary look at a couple names that could make sense for the Buckeyes as Urban Meyer looks to fill a vacancy on the offensive side of the ball, his first since having to replace Bill Sheridan only days after he accepted the job.

Brian Johnson
QB Coach
Mississippi State
Utah - 2008 Johnson knows Meyer well as a former quarterback under Meyer at Utah in 2004. Johnson spent the majority of his career with the Utes before joining Dan Mullen's staff in Starkville (Miss.) last season. Johnson worked closely with one-time Heisman candidate Dak Prescott. Johnson's track record has not been consistent but honestly has not had the keys to a car like the Ohio State offense in his career to date.

Lincoln Riley
Off. Coord./QB Coach
East Carolina
Texas Tech - 2006 Riley is one of the hottest names making the rounds right now and is being looked at by Kentucky among other schools. Riley learned his craft at Texas Tech and the high powered offense of the Red Raiders and it of course would keep the state of Texas open (to a point) to the Buckeyes as a recruiting ground but could Riley learn to incorporate enough of a running game to fit the needs of the conference game and the roster?
1633861.jpg
Mike Sanford
Off. Coord./QB Coach
Boise State
Boise State - 2005 Sanford is very young in terms of coaching chops and has no ties to the state of Ohio but has ties to Meyer with Sanford's father, Mike Sr., being Meyer's former OC at Utah. The former BSU player spent three years at Stanford before returning home to the Broncos and is known as a dynamic recruiter. Sanford has had one job within the region in 2010 with Western Kentucky before joining the Cardinal.
1633860.jpg
Kurt Roper
Off. Coord.
Florida
Rice - 1995 Reports are that Roper will not be retained in Gainesville (Fla.) by the new regime and Roper now comes out of the wash looking for work. The Florida offense was pretty bad this year but there were not many playmakers to be found on the roster and this is more of a case of weak personnel over weak coaching. Roper's coaching stops have been throughout the SEC and ACC and would give the Buckeyes more presence within the region.

Jason Candle
Off. Coord./QB Coach
Toledo
Mount Union - 2003 You always have to have an in-state guy on the list and Candle fits that need. The former Mt. Union OC saw his team go 29-1 in his two seasons in the position. Candle has moved up the chain of command at Toledo and 2014 was his first year with the QBs and has held the OC title since 2012. Is Candle good enough with QBs however to take on this job as the Buckeyes will need someone to fill Herman's role as developer of quarterbacks? Candle may be a long shot for that reason.

Boise State...that would make me laugh, I've heard several times from Texas fans about academics. Bringing in Boise State would be a step in a negative direction academically.

If I happened to the be the AD at UH, I would want Herman in Houston ASAP. The Cougars need Herman more than OSU. Herman needs to get together a staff and get to work on returning players. The dead period is only a few days aways so it is important for Herman to have a staff in place and be ready to hit the trail blazing on recruits bc of the short time frame he will have to work b4 national signing day.

OSU, on the other hand, will continue on without missing a beat. They will hire an OC to come in and run what UM wants run. UM can call the plays or on of the other assistants on staff that have been with him since he got to Columbus.

Mark this official, he's staying with Ohio State thru the Sugar Bowl (...see what I did there)

LOL, Houston....one of the top programs in the country?

ā€œThis is a tremendous opportunity for my family and I to come back to Houston and lead one of the top programs in the country,ā€ said Herman who has spent 11 seasons of his collegiate coaching career in the state of Texas. ā€œI am looking forward to working with one of the top athletic directors in the country as well as Chancellor Khator in a partnership that will make the city of Houston and the great state of Texas proud.ā€
