🏈 It Might Not Be Popular, But I'm Just Gonna Say It

BAMA fans now have 364 days in which they can talk some smack and rub folks' noses in it, and I wouldn't dream of telling them not to. Given what we've had to deal with in the recent past, I think we're all entitled to it.

Having said that, I give AU and their coaching staff props for what they did today against us.

Call it trickeration or whatever you like, but AU had BAMA on its heels looking totally out-manned and unprepared early on. That's exactly what Chizik and company had to do, and they did it very well. AU coaches knew that there was no way they could line up and play straight up ball against us and hope to win in any for or fashion. AU fans know it too, but might not admit it. I thought Auburn came out today and showed a lot of moxy early on. They played balls to the wall, and the outcome could have been different had they stuck with what worked in the first quarter.

Maybe it's not popular to say so, and maybe it's just me, but I respect what they did today. They had a game plan on defense. They made enough plays early on with their offense and special teams to give them a fighting chance. That's all you can ask from a coaching staff, IMHO.

We were fortunate to come out with a win today. Hopefully we can work on some things and come out with a win against Florida in the next one.

Exactly, and regardless of whether its popular it is the truth. You cannot afford to look past ANY game much less THIS game. They downplayed this rivarly all week and it nearly cost us a shot at something much much bigger. I made up my mind in the stands today that if we lost, those boys would never have been to muster up anything to beat Florida and maybe the bowl game. We were very very blessed to walk out with the W.

I agree 100%.

Well, you have to respect what they did today, but you dont have to respect them as people.

And thats what being an Alabama is all about.

They did their best, gave their opponents hell, but still failed. Which desribes their program's general direction since it was founded.

But as you see, I totally respect those failures, but I dont mind letting them know that their best was not good enough.

Good God I am evil.

I will give their team respect, even if they could not move the ball with an consistency, but it was a home game and I expected to Aubrun to come out fired up and ready to play.
More respect to the guys in crimson for never giving up and playing 60 minutes.

As for the Aubrun fans....no comment. They will pull moral victories and talk about what could have been....just like we did for 6 seasons.

What matters is the final score.

Every advantage they had, we weathered. Five days to prepare for the offense who had 2 weeks to through in the kitchen sink was huge. And yet, it took one trick play, a successful first quarter on-sides kick, and a blown coverage to make them look competitive on the scoreboard. Heck of a job by our Defense...all things considered.

Their Defense did a heck of a job. I believe THAT was the whipping that CNS was speaking of. But I eaqually want to praise our Offense for truly for being the classiest bunch on the field in not losing their poise and seeing it through.

Funny to think this was game given to the offense to win and they found a way to do it.

i wore the carpet out pacing the floor the whole game! did anyone else have utah flashbacks? auburn played a great game and i am happy we came out a winner.

Nope, just 2005 Iron Bowl flashbacks.

Every time I worried about this game 2005 and Ole Miss kept coming back to me. 2005 for obvious reasons and Ole Miss because of the way AU handled them this year. I knew if they played us like they played Ole Miss it would be a struggle. Best for me that I never thought about them playing even better than that.

Good thing it is 2009;)

Lemme give you my take on this situation. We were not prepared to play yesterday at all. We thought all we had to do was show up and we would win. We weren't ready emotionally, the cow college was. This was a classic case of little brother taking big brother to the woodshed. Coach Bryant used to say "its not the size of the dog in the fight its the size of the fight in the dog that matters". Don't get me wrong I'm glad we won, but i can tell you right now if we pull this same stunt on Dec 5 Florida will rip out our heart and show it to us right before we die.

We haven't played this bad since La Monroe. We better get our heads screwed on straight before we play Florida, if we don't i can assure you we won't win.
