As with most things, the media twists words to make them say what they want to put out as headlines. Gabbard did say they were not currently assembling nuclear weapons. She also stated that they were stockpiling enriched uranium at levels unprecedented for a country without nuclear weapons. If you have the material the decision to assemble can change whenever you want it to. I've heard contradicting briefs in the same week because the intelligence information changed.

I don't want us any more involved than we have been already but I'm all for keeping one of the biggest terrorists in the world from obtaining nuclear weapons. Don't think any sane person wants another Iraq or Afghanistan.

All these questions that put the burden on us to defend Iran’s “true” intentions and ambitions are just stupid. It moves the debate parameters so that the only sensible antiwar stance must also divine Iran’s motives, as if motives aren't ever fluid and contingent upon the threats to Iran’s security. Hell I bet there isn’t even a singular Iranian intention. I’m sure there are rivalries within that country’s government on this issue.

We are at a point where you need to go stand in the country you stand with.

I probably haven't followed this stuff as closely as some of you. but I'd guess Iran will (at some point soon) lob a few of their remaining missiles in the general direction of some US troops and/or US ships in the area. I doubt that they'd intend to directly hit either, but they'll make it seem as if they were just to save some face. And IMO, they certainly have a right to defend themselves and launch their own attack, against US and/or Israel. But at this point, they are the Black Knight with no arms and legs, despite their words. It would only get much worse for them from here...
