This week, Matt is joined by Auburn bloggers Blake Ells from CollegeAndMagnolia.com and WarBlogle to discuss the debate between SEC coaches over the rising trend of hurry-up, no-huddle offenses.
The Barners had a whopping 130yds of offense his last season on the sidelines as the OC with 0 pts scored. The 42-14 thumping on the Plains in 2011 was a good gauge to what they may produce this year. 7 pts came off a fumble recovery and the other came on a KO return. About 70 of those yards came on their last 2 drives.
Gus' smoke and mirror offense can give teams who've not played against it before some problems, but once you've seen it, it's not hard to figure out and have your athletes learn to stifle it. Is it too early to start the "Who will be the Barn's next coach" thread yet? (G)
Fills the roster with the same type of players they have is a better way of putting it...
Seldom do you see people refer to the fact he was right in the middle of all the mess that happened down there for three of the last four years. In their fans eyes, he's somehow separate because he spent a year away from the program.
While I'm not overly concerned, I admit I wonder what the purpose of this piece is suppose to be.
I seriously hope the Boogs aren't thinking they'll beat us just because they run a HUNH now. Whole country thinks because A&M beat an Alabama team that came off of an tough emotional and physical game versus LSU, that anyone that runs a HUNH can beat Alabama .
Teams with a coaching and talent problem are scared, but Saban and team are far from scared. Like what was already said aTm beat an Alabama team that was coming off an emotional game against LSU. Everybody will see a difference this year when we play aTm and they don't have the same success as they did last year. I will be surprised if they score more than 14 points against us.
if he had all the players he wanted i doubt it would be so laughable as it was the last go round. they had/have a systemic problem that he will have to deal with. will it be a formidable offense after that? i think so. will it win championships? i don't think so.
he better find a way to put some of his duckies on the defensive side of the ball. as bad as auburn's offense has been the last 2 seasons, their defense cost them games more often imo.. and led to a team dissolution out of basically despair. they were terrible.
