🏈 Is the LSU Defense That Formidable?

There's some interesting questions brought up here.

It's true what you say about Georgia being the only team currently ranked in the top five in the SEC. But, wasn't Florida ranked up there as well when they played? And, maybe Auburn as well?

There are shifts throughout the season in how a team is ranked.

Yes. If I recall this correctly, it seems like Auburn tumbled from 3rd to 6th and UF from 5th to 7th. But, I might be off a position there.

That's one of the reasons I posed the thought as a question(s), not an absolute judgment.

As example, even with Auburn's high rankings (statistical wise) we were all waiting on them to face a good defense. Now that they have, we see it's still an offense struggling to find its identity.

Is it fair to use the Florida game, and those numbers, as a judgment of the pass defense the Tigers have? That's something left to be determined. The Gators threw the ball about a third less in that game versus their seasonal average but at the same time completed right at 70% of their attempts. (Hernandez had a very good night which is one reason I hope Peek is coming along nicely.)

We can safely, and accurately, say that neither Mississippi State or Vandy are proficient passing teams.

Bottom line. I think LSU has a heck of a lot of talent—as much as any team in the league. But, there are some questions to be answered.

Moreso on offense than anywhere...which, I'll touch on later this week.

I'd have to agree with Terry for the most part. I do believe they have a ton of talent and talent can always 'turn it on' in a big game situation. But I think them Bama Boys will be unquestionably ready for this one. Big game nonetheless.
