The linemen in the Big10 just don't hold a candle to the elite in the SEC. Once we established a running game it was over from there. Remember the way we manhandled Michigan State a few years back? Penn State last year? The Big10 in general just isn't very good right now. Urban Meyer will probably have a field day up there for the foreseeable future...
Now, at the same time, we have probably one of the best Offensive lines in recent memory. But once we really get in to SEC play the competition will be much better than what our team saw this past weekend.
I think it's important for our players to realize this, and I guarantee that Saban has been in their head about it. But everyone, especially college aged athletes, are susceptible to complacency...it's human nature. This is what you have to love about Saban and what really separates him from other "good" coaches, is that the better things go, the harder he works. He had a great quote in an interview ABC played before the game...maybe someone can help me out with it, but it went something like "we worked extremely hard to get to where we're at, and we're not giving it back." You gotta love that attitude from your leader.
