A year or two before Fulmer was fired there was quite a contingent saying it would be a foolish move by UT. While they pointed to the title run in the late 90's there were other that pointed to Fulmer's record vs ranked opponents. Fulmer's last season he started with a winning percentage of .333 over quite a few games. I want to say the number was like 3 wins in 11 contests.

After he was fired the same voices were heard. No wins over top 10, only a few over top 25, and on down the line.

I bring this up for consideration on this topic.

Mark Richt has two wins over the last 11 games versus ranked opponents.

I definatley see your point, but I just can't bring myself to compare Richt and Fulmer on ANYTHING.

It's the first thing that will NEED to be pointed to if they want to fire him.

It's just my prediction. But, I'm betting that is where you see it coming from. Especially with a loss to South Carolina this weekend.

Here's one for ya. If UGA loses this weekend you don't see a vote in the Coaches Poll. Maybe, MAYBE, a few in the AP.

The way I see it, if Georgia loses Satruday, and i expect them to lose, they will be a pretty dispirited team. They would probably be dogs against Mississippi Stae, Tennessee and Florida, even though two of those game are at home.If they lose all three they are at best 7-5, and the outcry will be deafening to make a change. Run the table after a USCe loss and he is safe. Anything less and he could be gone.

I hope that Richt keeps his job! if he gets fired... UGA will be after Smart for the head coaching job. I for one dont want to see him leave Bama!

Regarding Smart: I don't want to lose him either, but he is too good to not end up as an HC. In fact, we are likley lucky to still have him at this point. I just don't want to have to play him when he has the advantage of being specifically at Georgia.

Regarding Richt: There may not be a better man among the SEC coaches, but his coaching is sad....embarassing. It has become cliche, those camera shots stunned of stunned, dejected Dawg fans with "not again" looks on their face. Sadder still is that these looks seem to follow some bush-leqague stunt by Richt to get his team to win. "Black Out" against Alabama. "Team celebration" against Florida. "Our Unis are unglier than yours" against Boise.

From the UGA fans I've talked to they are more on the "lets go after Mullen" bandwagon.

What just makes me shake my head about UGA is the talent they have had in the past 5 years or so and how little they have done with it.
