🏈 Is Malzahn leaving?

There's an expectation that the Texas job will open in the next few weeks. According to a source, Malzahn has told friends privately that coaching the Longhorns is his dream job. If confronted with the choice between Auburn and Austin, it's a no-brainer move for Malzahn to bolt. The best job in the Big 12 is a much more stable place than The Plains, as even a play-caller of Malzahn's acumen isn't likely to make adjustments to historical trends.

He is and it's working brilliantly. The comments are worth their weight in gold. I have never seen a fan base want to rationalize their relevancy, whether they are 3-9 or 11-1. It's like they live with a constant chip on their shoulder whether they win or lose. Overall, a pretty miserable fan base that's always looking for their next stroke.

Personally, I do not think he is going anywhere. He is in for a pretty nice bonus and is the toast of Auburn...for awhile. :lance:

He is younger and his offense would fit them like a glove...for those who remember Texas introducing the wishbone. He is much more extroverted which is required there to deal with all of the egos. He ain't no rookie. With all of his background in neighboring Arkansas high school and college plus his Tulsa and Auburn experience he is seasoned enough and has proven he can win a national championship.

It would be a win-win-win...for Texas, for Gus and especially for us....get him out of the state of Alabama and keep Saban here. (Too hell with Auburn). Come on Longhorns make him am offer he can't refuse.

Agree. Your post reminds me of one of our former high school coaches here in Moulton. He came in, built a strong program and went 10-0 one year. He was the pride and joy of the town. The next spring, the principal tried to assign him a class to teach besides Drivers Ed. The principal's secretary went to church with us and told my wife the coach told the principal, "you can't assign me anything to do. I just went 10 & 0. I could pull my dick out, piss all over your desk and you couldn't do a damn thing about it."

Well he got by with it for a few years and then he refused to go to some training required by the (?) AEA during spring break and got fired. Don't remember all the details but the quote is dead on what he said. Gus is in that same boat now.

What is going to do Mack Brown in isn't the losses as much as if you look at Rivals, A&M is way above Texas in recruiting right now. Control of state recruiting is something the longhorn faithful cannot let slip away.

I want him to stay so Alabama can beat his ass into the ground. Then, he can leave. Auburn will have a great team returning next year. Beating them at home would surely set the Barners flying under their rocks again.

I don't know whether he'd go to Austin or not but two things to consider:

1. His stock will (probably) never be higher than it is this now (this season)
2. He saw that Chizik got his walking papers within 2 yrs of a NC

How is this logical ? He has no affect on what Saban does.....or the Alabama football program.

If Texas calls he will be gone. No way Auburn can match them financially. And he could have long term success at Texas that Auburn probably can't give him.
