🏈 Is Fitzpatrick hurt?

Dont seem to me like he's punting very good at all.And why is Tiffin kicking these squib kicks on kickoffs? Is that what Saban wants? Why is he not booming the ball down to the endzone?

If Fitzgerald is hurt, Saban has not mentioned it. As far as Tiffin, he doesn't have a very strong leg for kickoffs... I would assume he is kicking the ball how Middleton and Saban want him to kick it. Saban tore him anew one when he kicked it out of bounds against UT, I know that.

I find it very sad that we haven't seen Christensen kickoff at all this season...

I may be wrong by saying this, Tiffin scares me to death. Every time he kicks, no matter if it's a kick off or a field goal attempt I honestly shut my eyes and ask my wife to tell me when it's over. :?

I think it's the best thing for him to do right now, squib kicks that is. He's not the only one in college football doing it right now either. Its a new trend it seems.

I just don't see where Tiffin's been that bad this season. He's had a few kicks that were bad, but other than that he's been pretty good.

Have we given up 5+ plays this season over 40 yards on a kick return? I honestly don't remember many at all.

As long as Tiffin isn't kicking it out of bounds and we aren't giving up huge plays on the kickoff return, I'm fine with him in there.

I somewhat will agree with you. This season he hasn't been that bad. He has missed a few that we needed towards the start of the season.

Last season, we won't even talk about that. Was it the Ark. game?

All in all, we could stand to have a better kicker to go to. Thats just my opinion.

Yeah, I agree on the FGs.

Well that was his first ever road trip to a hostile stadium as a true freshman. I'll give him the pass there.

Help is on the way!!

It may be a new trend and we did it in the LSU game. But the last squib after we scored late to go ahead didn't go vey far and LSU started in great position for their winning drive. Return statistics comparing squib and normal KOs would be interesting.

Agreed.

I don't know if P.J. is hurt or not, but there are literally dozens of high school punters that can consistently kick it further than what we saw yesterday. Granted, none of them have future NFL players rushing them....

Well, my comments were not meant to belittle Tiffin. I agree that he's done a great job this season, but Christensen(if healthy) should at least be getting one duty. Just my thoughts is all, guess hes not performing well enough in practice.

Wow, didn't know that.

Something to note here. Just like we've seen an adjustment period for our players with Saban vs the way they were coached under Shula, you have to remember that none of our kickers had someone working with them under the Shula regime. Literally, they weren't coached.

Changing kicking techniques is as difficult a thing to accomplish as a QB changing his delivery technique.

P.J. has pretty much always had a weak leg from what I can remember.

Yes, he's never boomed them, but the crazy thing was that in halftime warmups the center snapped from the 40 and he consistently put them in the end zone, 42 to 45 yards each time with good hang time. In the game, his distance dropped ten yards. It was very frustrating, but I'm sure it was for him, too.
