šŸˆ Is a Virginia Tech Loss an Indictment on the ACC ?

Just a small fact I ran across this week.

In the last twenty games where Alabama has faced an ACC team, we've won 18 of them.

Without looking to verify which teams, I'm thinking those two are FSU and Va. Tech.

Over a period of time when we've played at arguably our worst, it's still be better than the product seen on Saturday's from the ACC.

The 2 are FSU and at GT. The VT loss is on the record book against the Big East. Bama is 30-4 All Time against the ACC. 2-2 at neutral sites. The other 2 losses were at Maryland and to Duke in the Sugar Bowl.

There are all kinds of results that show the weakness of the ACC in football. Just to hit on a couple: Vanderbilt knocked off BC in a bowl game last year. While this was the best Commodore team in years, BC was supposed to be upper echelon ACC. North Carolina State is a middle of the pack ACC club, or at least that is their expectation. South Carolina is at best middle of the pack SEC, perhaps bottom 1/3. Yet as ugly as that game was, SC was in charge of it, and it became apparent that only an egregious SC error would let the Wolfpack win. No offense to the Hokies, but if you plunked them down in the SEC East, replacing say Tennessee (that's a very pleasant thought) they would be a third place team. A VT win would be a much needed ego boost for ACC football, while and Alabama win would just confirm the status quo.

I may follow up on this quickly on the blog over there...haven't decided yet because I have a ton of stuff running through my mind on what to post today.

But, in an answer to the question I asked...

The score, was the only saving grace. If one looked at the stats this indeed was an indictment on the ACC as a whole. Their (ACC's) "cow bell" program was dominated with one exception—kicking yards re: returns. And, there isn't another program that has that ability within the entire conference.

That said, the other ACC teams defined the inability of the conference.

NC State, Wake Forest, Virginia and Duke all lost their game, at home!

The lone with the ACC can enjoy this past weekend was against the only FBS opponent they played, Middle Tennessee State. Sure, they ended up with a 4-6 record over all.

But, only one win that was...notable?
