🏈 Interesting "tweet" from Dennis Dodd (CBS) on Cam and Ohio State...

Hmmmm, why is this new more "friendlier" NCAA spending so much time defending their actions? The more they come out in response to complaints the more their credibility dives (not that they had much to begin with). If they were so confident in their actions why would they spend so much time defending themselves?

A few things disappoint me greatly about this whole mess. First it appears the NCAA tweaks the rules as it goes along (i.e. "didn't know" and "weren't properly educated in rules"). Those two statements could be the crux of every single violation in any school's past. Why is it all of the sudden allowable now? Mind blowing! I think Textbookgate and Tattgate and am appalled. I think Andre Smith and Cam Newton and can't believe what I see. I can't even put into words how frustrating these two cases are, and I'm not even commenting on any others in the past.

Also it appears as much as I hope and as much as I hear quiet rumblings from other sites that Auburn has been paying the NCAA has nothing on Auburn. I've read that the reinstatement committee and the reinforcement committee of the NCAA are two separate arms and act independently of one other. I get that. I just don't know that the NCAA would make such a strong statement in their newfound desire to defend themselves if they thought Auburn had any skeletons in their closet. Maybe the FBI does have something that eventually they'll discover or eventually will share with NCAA. Is it even worth my time hoping the NCAA would do anything with it though? Ugh, so frustrating!

"Put simply, had Cam Newton's father or a third party actually received money or benefits for his recruitment, Cam Newton would have been declared ineligible regardless of his lack of knowledge," the NCAA said.

It's an absolute and complete farce. The "I didn't know" excuse could have been used as "mitigating" in just about every case that has come to pass. This is total crap. I don't know how some schools get favored status and others don't, but I think not only should UA be pi$$ed (Dareus, Smith, etc.), but many other schools as well who have sat players who "didn't know" or had players deemed inelligible by the NCAA who "didn't know" and on top of that had to wait months for a decision.

I wish there were some recourse that we could take up.

Anybody up for a protest campaign? Maybe a signature drive on a letter to the NCAA.

Not worth the time, or effort. Here's the thing...the protest's we've had for year's about how the NCAA operates...it's now in print.

Kick back...read, and watch the reactions.

I must admit I'm looking forward to this. The NCAA can't say its jus a bunch of disgruntled Alabama fans, since we've been relatively quiet about this and it is the national media who are criticizing.

An LSU buddy at work was all abuzz about the chatter on TigerDroppings after one of the "trusted" posters hinted that something relating to Auburn was about to hit. It is indeed interesting to be the BAMA guy being the calm element among all this.

Those ass-hats are still saying that it is Bama behind all of this. I was on my way to the Bama/Barn game and stopped at a Jacks for breakfast that morning. There was an idiot Barn fan at the table beside me talking about Bama being behind all the allegations. I just sat there and took it all in. Amazing.

Personally I think nothing will come of any of this, unless the FBI reveals something (a smoking gun, if you will) on the Milton McGregor trial that would force the NCAA to do something. Only time will tell.

I'll admit, I haven't wasted any of my time trying to find out where this thing is right now. Not real worried about it. Hell, think about it...I don't spend much time talking about Auburn at all on this forum. (UT is my rival...)

However, I've seen so many talk of "nothing will come of this" when we were discussing USC a few years ago. I kept saying, they've been told sanctions are on the way. In this case...I'm being told this isn't over yet.

Many Auburn fans are crazy paranoid about this. I can't understand why. It shouldn't matter who is behind any of it. I do think that most SEC teams have a large contingent of conspiracy theorists in their ranks though, so I would expect any fan base to cry foul and try to kill the messenger in this situation.

I would think that if the NCAA was going to have something it would have had it by now. The federal trial will shake a lot of stuff regarding McGregor lose. Anyone who knows McGregor's (or Lauder's) reputations would have to concede that something damaging could come out. Whether or not it has anything to do with Cam and this years team remains to be seen.

At least it looks like we'll be getting rid of Lauder at some point. The guy's a bum and one of the biggest obstacles that the University has to overcome seemingly constantly.

As for Tigerdroppings, you'd think it was a third testament to the Bible the way LSU fans treat it. I have several LSU grads that I am friends with and they claim that Tigerdroppings is the most trusted source of "unbiased" SEC news in existence.

Of course they also love Louisiana so I take that for what it's worth.

how about the whole Nebraska signing a clothing deal with "Corn Fed", the dad of soon to be QB Taylor Martinez a year prior to him being the QB...hmm, not saying the NCAA knew about this (granted they signed with 3-4 other schools), but makes you question things does it.

the problem with this in my mind, it makes people question the family member getting benefits...not saying he is, just makes people question it.

not sure what is going on with the NCAA, but man, they appear to be slipping big time.
