"Ball Out of Bounds
ARTICLE 3. a. A ball not in player possession, other than a kick that scores a field goal, is out of bounds when it touches the ground, a player, a game official or anything else that is on or outside a boundary line."

Interesting take on this.

Julio definitely touches it simultaneously after he was already out of bounds, possibly causing the ball to be dead. Im not sure, nor have I heard this take on it. But Julio was definitely already out of bounds and touched it before if not simultaneously as Peterson.

Bob Griese? Who is this youtube clown making comments?

looked like an int to me.....no matter. Just making up for that game a few years back with the pass interference "no call" that Shula dropped all the "F" bombs at the ref. As Shula said in his post game show after that game. Bad calls are part of the game and you just have to strap it on and go out and play the next play.

Also FYI, this is not my personal argument. Saw it on another board and thought it was interesting take. I still think it was a pick, a reallllly close one, but it was a pick. Hard to overturn ruling on field though.

Check out this article, the part under "miscellaneous ramblings", regarding the 2004 no-call against Corey Webster:

Like I said about the UGA call, a good football team doesn't put the game in a position to where the refs can decide it for them. PERIOD!

And a great football team finishes things off so there is no doubt. Two missed open receivers for TDS and an illegal participation penalty costed Bama the opportunity to tack on 18 points (21-3 for the FG) which could have sent LSU back to Red Stick with a 42 to 15 arse whuppin'.

Again, the final score was not indicative of the beat down the opposing team received.

So tired of the excuses. If a team loses they should look for a penalty to blame. I could see the complaint if it was the drive that gave Bama the lead. Or if it was an LSU reception for the win. But in the grand scheme it wasnt.

What happened on all the LSU offensive plays after that? And what did BAMA do?

The TIDE moved the ball another 15 yards on 5 plays. Tiffin kicks a 40 yard FG. He could have kicked a 55 yarder. Or PJ could have pinned LSU inside the 10.

So with 3:04 LSU gets the ball at the 20.

L 1-10 L20 Jarrett Lee crossing pass complete to Brandon LaFell for 12 yards to the LS32, 1ST DOWN LS (Mark Barron;Rolando McClain).

L 1-10 L32 Jarrett Lee sacked for loss of 4 yards to the LS28 (Marcell Dareus). LSU C T-Bob Hebert shaken up on the play.

L 2-14 L28 Jarrett Lee sideline pass incomplete to T. Toliver.

L 3-14 L28 Jarrett Lee crossing pass incomplete to Rueben Randle (Marquis Johnson).

L 4-14 L28 Jarrett Lee middle pass intercepted by Robby Green at the LS45, return 0 yards to the LS45.

And then Bama runs the clock out.

Here is the tale of the 4th:
LSU - 3 Poss, 13 Plays, 8 Yards, 2 punts, INT

Bama -4 Poss, 27 Plays, 163 Yards, 2 FG, 1 TD, and 4 QB kneels to end the game from the LSU 23.

Who had the momentum? Who was missing several players due to injury? Would the outcome be different if LSU had the ball for another couple of minutes? Still with no timeouts and starting to get increasing pressure from the Tide D.

What if, what if. Yeah what if Julio or Hanks catches the passes thrown to the in the endzone earlier. What if the Instant Replay deal worked when Smelley caught the pass on the sideline. What if Julio had been off the field and Ingram pounds it in from the 1 behind Cody and gang. What if Bama D had forced a turnover and returned it for a score.

Some people just need something to complain about.

I got one more for ya, what if Cory Webster had been called for Pass Interference in the end zone in 2004 when Bama was up 16-10 driving for another score with LSU on its heels? I thought so! Get over it.

Today I heard Steve Kort, former OL for the Saints talking about that play. He said the outcome did not hinge on that one play and a team should never blame one play for losing a football game.
