Hi all,

Hope you don't mind a Ute fan hanging around this season. Just saw this and found it interesting. Rivals projecting an SEC/MWC rematch in the Sugar Bowl.

Championship: Texas vs Florida
Rose: Oregon vs Iowa
Fiesta: USC vs Cincinnati
Sugar: Alabama vs TCU
Orange: Penn State vs Georgia Tech

I have to admit I haven't seen a lot of Alabama or Florida this year but I do have to say that from what I've seen I'd probably switch Florida to the Sugar and Alabama to the NC. Florida has looked a bit sloppy and undisciplined but again I have to admit I haven't watched a lot of their games.

I would think that there would be a revenge factor built into a return to the Sugar Bowl against a MWC team. TCU has looked very effective this year and I don't personally question their ranking. They did play a close game at Air Force but that was in some extremely adverse weather conditions. They completely dismantled BYU 38-7 and no question it could have been far, far worse.

As mentioned personally I'd like to see 'bama in the NC game for a few reasons. First, what I've seen of you has looked really good. Secondly I have to admit that Tide fans have made me a Tide fan as well. And frankly it would be kind of cool to be able to tell the grandkids one day that the school we beat in the Sugar Bowl won the National Championship the next year. Yea I know that you can't compare college teams year to year but it would still be fun.

First off, NOBODY wants to play TCU - they look mighty tough. Second, why on earth would USC still get a BCS bowl? Didn't Oregon expose them as GROSSLY over-rated? Lastly, I've got a feeling Florida is going to lose one...

Glad to have the UU guys still coming by. You guys conduct yourselves well. I agree with Cobra that a TCU matchup would be no bargain. Their defense is really fast. Good luck to you guys against BYU.

It would take a meltdown by Oregon for that to happen. USC already has to conference losses versus none for Oregon. They would have to lose 3 of their last 4 games.

You are right about that. Also, I did not notice that they had projected Oregon to the Rose Bowl, which would be as Pac-10 champions. Therefore, there is no reason that USC should be in a BCS Bowl.

As I recall, Utah had an extremely quick D in our game against the Utes last year. I was particularly impressed with the speed of their DEs.

I agree that USC down't belong, but I don't see a viable option. Each conference is limited to 2 teams, so no way could we send a third.

It seems like the only choices are USC, tOSU(if they beat Iowa), and another mid major team. Out of those 3, USC is the most likely scenerio.

Cobra & Pirate you are very correct about TCU's defense. They have a ton of speed and athleticism and Coach Patterson is more than willing to throw the playbook at you. The defense features a DE by the name of Jerry Hughes who is projected as a likely early 1st rounder next year. If you remember our DE Paul Kruger who is now with the Ravens you get an idea what Hughes is like. Tall, big and fast. Interestingly he normally lines up on the left side of the D which forces a lot of the offense to move to its right because you almost always have to put a TE or send a RB to chip on Hughes.

TCU's offense is no slouch either with a kid by the name of Kerley (forget his first name) who is lightning on both his routes and kick/punt returns. I think it would be an interesting matchup.

As for BSU replacing USC? I have a real hard time with that. True they beat Oregon but Oregon had at least 80% of its playbook locked up tight so I don't see that as a true representation of BSU's talent. Since then they have feasted on what's probably as weak of a schedule as I've seen. Not only is Oregon their only ranked opponent they squeaked by Tulsa, UC-Davis, Bowling Green with powerhouses such as La. Tech, Utah State (sad to say), Idaho and Nevada looming.

I'm not a USC fan but I still would go USC over BSU to the BCS personally. BSU's claim to a BCS berth still reminds me too much of BYU's 1984 Championship with the famed "Bo Diddley Tech" schedule.

I see TCU as pretty much having the complete package. Schedule, if they win out, shouldn't be laughed at, as they will have beaten Utah, BYU, and Clemson. We Bama fans know what it's like to play Utah don't we? :D

Boise State beat Oklahoma a couple years ago, and that really entitles them, in my book, more serious consideration. However, judging by Ohio State's bowl performances, that does not entitle them to a second look. Man, this whole thing "no playoff" thing just isn't working out anymore. Time to have at least an 8 team playoff, with each conference's champion being invited, and perhaps 2 play-in games by invitation or by poll ranking to get to the final 8. That opens it up for 10 total teams. Outside of the top 10, you just don't get consideration.

One more thought about TCU: Why are people surprised at their level of play? They've had some seriously strong teams in the past, when they were in other conferences. Man, they've won in Conference USA, they've won in the Mountain West, and they've won in the WAC. They were even at one time in the old Southwest Conference. And, anyone recall one Dennis Franchione and how successful they were when he was there?

I recall thinking that I could have been HC at Bama if I could have coached LaDainian Tomlinson somewhere and gotten credit for what he did.
